1. Introduction

This annual report provides a summary of the work undertaken by Pontsticill Community Group over the past year.

We became a charitable incorporated organisation in June 2021, and our stated purpose is:

a. To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and enhancement of the physical and natural environment of the village of Pontsticill and surrounding area; and

b. To promote, for the benefit of the people who live and work in Pontsticill and the surrounding area, the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the conditions of life of said people.”

The community group holds meetings of trustees and members every 2 months. We produce a newsletter twice each year for the local community.

We have been successful in both raising funds and in attracting grant funding to support a variety of work over the past year.

There are currently 22 members of the charity.

4. Activities during the past year

4.1.Dathlu Cymraeg

Grant funding allowed us to provide a series of initiatives to promote and celebrate the Welsh language and culture over the past year. These included:

4.2.Twinning with Livre Sur Changeon, Brittany.

We have continued to build our links with our twinned community in Brittany, sharing our newsletter and updating them on our work. A first exchange visit took place in March 23. Our guests visited a number of local groups and attractions and met our community group members. During this visit, our mayor formally endorsed our twinning charter.

In addition to our Dathlu Cymraeg events, we held the following events over the past year:

We continue to hold volunteer days each month (dependent on the weather) to do litter picks and maintenance work within the village.
