## **4. Policies and guidance.**

We approved an environmental statement and equal opportunities statement in October 21.

We developed our safeguarding policy, risk assessment and action plan in January 22. Our actions have been taken forward and our trustees have undertaken safeguarding training.

## **5. Activities**

## **5.1. Volunteer days and maintenance work**

We have run our monthly volunteer days regularly over the past year. We have done our litter picks and other work to maintain the village. Thanks to everyone who has taken part in these days.

We undertook maintenance and repairs of the public toilets prior to these being re-opened in April 22

Some clearance and dry-stone walling has been undertaken on the burial ground.

We have formalised arrangements for the PCG to manage 2 areas of land in the village owned by DCWW.

We are planning for a stone ‘village gateway’ to be built at the entrance to the village from Vaynor.

## **5.2. Social activities**

Though we couldn’t hold our Christmas fayre last December due to continuing issues with Covid, we held a brief event for carol singing and a raffle. We also sold our calendars and cards which raised some income for the group.

We received some grant funding from VAMT for a staff event. We used this to bring together our PCG members and volunteers for an evening meal, and to hold a community open morning. We provided information about our work as a group, invited participants to complete a questionnaire, and consulted on our future plans.

A jubilee celebration was jointly organised between the PCG and Memorial Hall Committee in June 22.

We have agreed to provide the refreshment tent facilities at Vaynor show this year.

## **5.3. Welsh language and culture activities**

We received grant funding from Ffos y Fran to support a ‘Dathlu Cymraeg’ project which will celebrate Welsh Language and culture. Some funding is to host a future twinning visit from Brittany. We are also installing playground markings, running a series of 7 Welsh language classes, having a booklet produced on local place names and organising an evening of song plus a ‘Dathlu Cymraeg’ event.

## 5.4. **Newsletters**

We produced autumn / winter and spring / summer newsletter and these are circulate to our local residents. We produce Welsh / English versions of these along with a French version for our twinning community. We also translate this into Ukrainian for families who have moved to the village. We have also developed a welcome letter for new residents. This explains the work of the PCG along with contacts and local information.

## **5.6. Green Flag Award**

We were assessed for a Green Flag award for the village and park in the summer. We were notified of our success in September. The award is an accreditation given to publicly accessible parks and open spaces, in order to promote standards of good management and best practice.

## **5.7. Twinning project**

We have established our links with the twinning committee in Livre Sur Changeon, Brittany. We’ve had several meetings with their committee members. We hosted a meeting between our respective Mayors, our local counsellors and Council Leader to formalise a twinning charter in March 22.

## **5.8. Taf Fechan Landscape & Community Project**

We linked into this project steering group and a number of working groups have looked at common issues such as biodiversity, recreation, antisocial behaviour, communication and wellbeing. A group of representatives has continued to meet to take forward aspects of work.

Thanks to our officers, members and volunteers for their work over the past year, and to the other individuals and groups who support our work as a charity.
