The alm of the West End Methodist Church Is to intèntlonally bring the
Klftgdom of God to the West End area of Stoke-on-Trant and its neighboring
communities by cr88ting disciples. We do this by equipping, training and
empowerlng those that gather. to re8ch out into the local communlty and
cr08tinE space that Is attractive. relevant and safe. Our objective is to live
out our laith through WOTship and prayer, bibl6 study end teaching,
providlng pastor81 care and support to our members 8nd comrnunity. and
through mlsslon and outreach.

The trustees conf irm thatthey have complied with the requirements of
section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit
guidance published by the Charity Commission for Eng18nd and Wales.
We arewell known in the community around the West End area of Stoke-
on-Trent and corlsequently have a constant flow of people from all walks of
lite visiting us daily for help 8nd support. We are regularly visited by local
homeless people, those in need of 8 safe place. who 8re lonely and
families.
Many people who attend the varled activities are from a non-church
background.
We deal with many pastoral is8ues day to day 8nd our pastoral team are
diligent and caring, regularly keeping in contact especi811y with those who
are unable to come to Church.
Durlng the year we have held 8 variety of successful events withln the
Communltycentre Including:
We have worked with over50 partner organisatlons some of which
Include, Age UK, Changes Mental HeGlth Services, Dementia
Advocacy, Ioc81 primary schools and universities, Herltage England,
Staffordshlre Pollce, Stoko on Tr8nt City Councll, communlty
lounges and places of welcome

achlevements of the charity
during the year
CHARITY COMMISSION REPORT
(September 24-Augusl 25)
The Year started with the Open day for the Church and Community
Centre where we welcomed our community in for refreshments along
with, karaoke, Bouncy castle for the children, local artists doing face
painting and glitter tattoos and crafts. We had a cake and bake stall and
tuck shop tombola amongst other stalls offering activities and craft items
to buy. We had a local menagerie with small animals.
This was a very successful event bringing community together. Church
life started with our Harvest C81ebrations where donations w8r8 made to
the local food bankj run on behalf of the Trussell where Nonperishable
items donated went to supporting and helping local people with food
poverty. We also donated to the methodist charity All We Can
We provide support for the Charity Operation Christmas child where we
held a coff8e morning and a toy box packing party wher8 all the money
raised went to this charity supporting children overs8as.
During the yearwe held Sunday afternoon of messy church welcoming
families. These focus on alternative worship offerlng craft, bible storles
and songs wllh a biblical theme
We continue lo hold a Toy bank service organised by Centre staff where
local people from our community, Employers and our own members
donate new toys that along with a food hamper ar8 given to local children
and families. Thes8 go to those that may not hav8 a gift at the festlV8
time. The recipients names are provided by our contacts in our local
primary schools and social services. The Lord Mayor of the Clty attends
this along with local reps from our schools
The Centre held a Christmas Craft fayre here we give people in the local
community an opportunity lo hire a table for a modest fee to sell their
goods. In addilion, the Church has a Home-made Bake stall and a fund-
raising activity which goes to Church funds.
During the month of D8￿Mber, we held a community meal where we
gifted a dinner to our local people and held a carol service
In January we annually have a Church Anniversary Weekend and Glft
Day. This was a special one this year we celebrated 10 years. We held
Coffee Morning on the Saturday. This is a social gathering, for the
congregation. On the Sunday after worshlp, we had a bLrffel meal
together
We held a memorable event that is held annually and hosted by the
Centre Staff and local councillor honouring a local hero. This event brings
our community together in remembering Timothy Trow
During Apil and May our Church held our Easter events and in June our
local Theatre allowed us to be part of a Charity Evening. We sold tickets
for the play and re￿iVed a generous payment for each ticket sold they
gave us the opportunity to organize a raffle and have the proceeds.
The ongoing work of Chur¢h activities is essential to the life of our
Church. Though the Centre is a large part of the work that lakes place
here daily where local people can be part of the events and activities that
take place. We have several activities running from the centre and we
provide outreach in two of our local primary schools delivering a craft
club. We have partnerships with ather organisations where we jointly
rovide outreach activities for families.
