## **WESTERN DOMES (Charity No: 1194632)** 

The Trustees present their annual report and accounts for the year ended 31 May 2025. 

The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practise (SORP) Accounting and Reporting by Charities issued in March 2005, the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entitles (effective April 2008) and the Companies Act 2006. 

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the receipts and payments basis in accordance with the Charity Commission guidance. 

## **Structure, governance and management** 

## Governing Document 

The Charity is registered as a Charity Incorporated Organisation (CIO) Foundation on 01 June 2021. The Charity registration number is 1194632. 

## Recruitment and appointment of New Trustees 

The Existing trustees consider the need to appoint new trustees and appoint them based on their skills and ability to contribute to the board of trustees. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The object of the CIO is to advance the Islamic religion in the United Kingdom for the benefit of the public by: 

- Promoting the study and understanding of Islamic teachings, practices and scriptures; 

- Conducting religious ceremonies, including (but not limited to) Ramadan and Eid observances, and the solemnisation of marriages and funerals; 

- Holding regular prayer meetings and acts of worship; 

- Delivering lectures, seminars and other educational activities to increase awareness and understanding of the Islamic religion; and 

- Providing Arabic language and Qur’an classes, particularly for children and young people. 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

As part of advancing its charitable objectives, the CIO has commenced a fundraising initiative to support the establishment of a community centre in London. This centre is intended to serve as a dedicated hub for the charity’s activities, including the delivery of religious services, educational programmes, and community engagement initiatives. The development of this facility represents a key strategic step in strengthening the charity’s ability to serve the public and expand its reach within the local community. 

## **Public Benefit Statement** 

The section of this report below entitled ‘Objectives and activities’ sets out the objects and aims of the charity. The trustees have considered this, in conjunction with the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit, and have concluded that: 

- the aims of the charity continue to be charitable; 

- the work done by the charity gives identifiable benefits to the charitable sector and both directly and

- indirectly to individuals in need; 

- the benefits are for the public; not unreasonably restricted in any way; 

- there is no detriment or harm arising from the aims or activities. 

## **Financial Review** 

During the period, the charity received total income of £40.5k (2024: £6.4). After incurring cash payments of £681 (2024: £12.2k), the carried forward cash fund balance stood at £46.3k (2024: £6.5k). 

## **Reserves Policy** 

The trustees believe that the charity has sufficient cash in the bank and adequate fundraising plans in place to ensure it can meet its costs. 

## **Future Plans** 

In the next period, the charity is expecting a significant grant. The charity plans to use this grant to procure and run a site to carry out its charitable activities. 

## **Trustees' responsibilities statement** 

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). 

The law applicable to charities in England & Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to: 

- select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; 

- observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP; 

- make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; 

- state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; 

- prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. 

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the trustees of WESTERN DOMES** 

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 May 2025 which are set out on pages 7 to 9. 

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

As the charity’s trustees of Western Domes you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Western Domes s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner’s statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of Muslim Relief as required by section 130 of the Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 

3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **1. Accounting policies** 

- (a) Basis of preparation 

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the receipts and payments basis in accordance with the Charity Commission guidance. 

## **2. Charity status** 

The Charity is registered as a Charity Incorporated Organisation (CIO) Foundation on 01 June 2021. The Charity registration number is 1194632. The Trustees are appointed and function in accordance with the CIO Foundation constitition. 

## (b) Fund accounting 

General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for other purposes. 

Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by donors or which have been raised by the charity for particular purposes. The cost of raising and administering such funds are charged against the specific fund. The aim and use of each restricted fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements. 

## (c) Receipts 

All incoming resources are included in the Receipt & payment Accounts when the charity actually receives legally entitled income. 

## (d) Payments 

All expenditure is accounted for on payments basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings, they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with use of the resources.
