March **2012** **TAR** 2 In planning our activities for the year, we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings. March **2012** **TAR** 3 Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** This year has been dominated by the work required to obtain final approval from the Football Foundation and Trafford Council for the floodlit, artificial grass pitch on Crossford Bridge Sports Ground. Planning permission was eventually given on 4[th] January 2024 and construction work started in the last week of March 2024. The work will also include a significant extension to one of the existing car parks and improvements will be made to two of the existing changing-rooms to bring them up the standard required by the Football Foundation. This work, which is expected to be completed in approximately four months’ time, will be largely funded by the Football Foundation with support from Trafford Council, the Crossford Bridge Management Association and contributions from Sale United and Old Altrinchamians FC. When completed the pitch will provide substantial benefits both for the resident clubs and other members of the local community. We continue to provide facilities for young and old to take part in sports activities such as athletics and football. We do this through our member organizations, which are Sale Harriers, Sale United and Old Altrinchamians; all of these clubs are open to members of the local community. We strive to make these activities as affordable as possible and this has enabled the clubs to provide reduced membership in cases of hardship. We are still waiting to sign a 25-year lease on Crossford Bridge Sports Ground with Trafford Council. The lease will be subject to a Community Use Agreement for the site and an agreement that the land will be registered with Fields in Trust, which will protect this green space for people to enjoy in perpetuity. We have continued to provide classroom space and football pitches for the Football Academy, I-Sports, to provide education to Btec level for young people in the local community and they are very much looking forward to the benefits that the artificial grass pitch will provide. Unfortunately, during the Summer, we suffered a major break-in to the main building. There was little of value stolen but there was significant internal damage. In order to reduce the risk of a repeat, we have installed a much-improved CCTV system.
