The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out on page eight and comply with the charity’s constitution, the Charities Act 2011 and the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (FRS 102): Accounting and Reporting by Charities 2019. ## **Structure, Governance and Management** The Trustees meet four times a year and review the broad strategy and areas of activity for Battle Back Golf. The day-to-day administration and management of the charity is conducted by a committee of volunteers which, includes trustees, rehabilitation specialists and Battle Back Golf beneficiaries. The Trustees keep the skill requirement under review and in the event of a trustee retiring, or an additional member being required, they may be sought from within the membership of Battle Back Golf or externally based on specific needs of the charity. The charity continues to operate a low-risk financial strategy and is based around ‘receipts and payments’ accounting. It supports its members based on income over and above the charity’s reserve. All trustees shall have a copy of the charity’s constitution together with a copy of the Charity Commission’s guidance ‘Responsibilities of Charity Trustees’. The Battle Back Golf committee operate under the Battle Back Golf Charter which provides direction and guidance in line with the Trustees vision and the charity’s constitution. The committee hold quarterly meetings on behalf of the Trustees as well as an AGM and EGM where all members are encouraged to attend. ## **Public Benefit** The Trustees confirm that they have paid due regard to the guidance given by the Charity Commission on public benefit. ## **Objectives and Activities** The objectives of Battle Back Golf are to deliver golfing education programmes and competitive opportunities to wounded, injured and sick Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force personnel and veterans, using golf as part of their physical and cognitive rehabilitation: - **Physically** . Through a series of progressive structured and semi-structured player-centred golf lessons and courses, players are taught the fundamentals of golf, and more experienced players can develop their current game in a purposeful but fun way. - **Psychological** . Aims to increase the cognitive wellbeing of its members through the medium of golf. Exploiting all the documented psychological benefits that golf offers and provide its members with a diverse, socially inclusive environment to rehabilitate mentally as well as physically. ## **Achievements and Performance** The charity, now in its fifteenth year continues to thrive and deliver the objectives laid down in its constitution. Another busy season saw Battle Back Golf compete in 25 competitive matches against golf clubs and organisations spanning the length of the country and internationally. This afforded both established and new members the opportunity to play, learn and socialise with likeminded individuals who share a passion for the sport. The Charity continued to welcome new members offering 268 places for various competitions around the UK and Spain. The season concluded with the Battle Back Golf championships which took place at the Belfry Golf Resort, a fitting season finale given the 15-year history of Battle Back Golf. Page **4** of **9** The Battle Back Golf Trustees remain content that the charity is achieving its objectives through the activities delivered. The Battle Back Golf committee continue to scan the metaphorical horizon for opportunities that best serve the Battle Back Golf brand and ultimately the members it was set up to help. ## **Financial Review** Battle Back Golf continued to receive donations throughout the financial year ensuring the charity’s finances remained sound; enabling core business to continue. Cash at bank as of 31[st] October 2024 was £48,632.10 in unrestricted funds. Much of Battle Back Golf’s success relies on the ‘grace and favour’ of the golfing industry and as such can operate with very little overheads and within tight parameters. The Trustees will maintain a reserve of £30,000 to be reviewed annually. This provides a level of assurance to cover the immediate future requirements of the charity, enabling it to meet all management and administration costs of the charity as and when they arise. The charity’s principal source of funding is donations from golf clubs and individual donations. ## **Risk Management** Battle Back Golf Trustees have examined the major strategic business and operational risks which the charity could face and have systems and contingency measures in place to minimise risks to as low as practicably possible. ## **Plans for the future** The charity plans to expand its collaboration with other service charities in order to provide the best possible support to its members. The Trustees will deliver a 5-year strategy and is committed to driving meaningful and sustainable change in adaptive golf. We are dedicated to expanding access to golf, empowering service personnel and veterans of all abilities to experience the physical and cognitive benefits of the game. The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that year. In preparing these financial statements, the Trustees are required to: - Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently. - Observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP. - Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent. - Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis under the assumption that the charitable company will continue operations for the foreseeable future. The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011 and the regulations made thereunder. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Independent examlner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters In connection with the examlnation to which attention should be diawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. This assessment is based on over 10 years of practical experience in military accounting, supported by ongoing involvement in the preparation and review of financial statements. While l am not formally accredited by a professional accounting body, the knowledge applied during this audit has been developed through extensive hands on work and regular interaction with external auditgrs. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable to the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019) – (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102). ## **Going concern** Having considered future budgets and cash flows, the Trustees remain confident in the ability of the charity to continue in operation as a going concern given the current cash balance and the trustees’ discretion over all spending, which can be adjusted based on the profile of donations received. ## **Income** Donation income is accounted for on receipt of the donation. All income is included in the Statement of Financial Activities when the charity’s entitlement to the income is probable, and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. ## **Expenditure** All expenditure is from unrestricted funds and included in the Statement of Financial Activities.
