Annual Return  2021 - 22 

The only activity of MERF in this financial year is the opening of a charity deposit account with Virgin Money Bank with a deposit of £5,000, there was no expenditure, no employment of staff, no rent or purchase of property. 

Charity registered 14 May 2021, Charity Deposit bank account with Virgin Money opened 22 June 2021, account opened with £5,000 deposit. A charity current account was applied for with Virgin Money ( formerly Yorkshire Bank where Trustee, Mr I R Russell has an account for some 30 years). After a long process an account was declined with no explanation and a subsequent complaint rejected. In the year 2021 - 22 MERF did not have a current bank account and therefore could not operate. Charitable activity was continued by I R Russell and P Commons, Trustees, on a personal basis involving emergency hospital treatment, food provision ( covid unemployment ), house building and repair etc. in the village of Jhum Para in Bangladesh where we have historical links. 

After a very long drawn out procedure a charity current account was opened with The Co-operative Bank on 27 August 2022 ( in the next financial year). the charity is now active.
