the going concem basis in preparing the financial statements. Further details regarding the adoption of the going

TMT'S fin8nci81 policy sets out our approach to maintaining reserves. We are currently building our reserves, 8S

services.

expenditure.

therefore new trustees are also inducled by regular and deiailed access to TMT'S work including the movements
that we onboard, financial progress and the developmenl of our policies and processes. We also have an in
person strategy away day every year that focuses on an update on our work and the development of future
strategy.

The Trustees together the Executive Director in charge of the day-to4ay running of the ¢harity ar&
responsible for the general management of the charity. AJI decisions are made by ihe Trustees at meetings
which take place at least four times per year. The Trustees regularty monitor the financial Position of the charity.

The Movements Trust, registered charity number 13121923. is a public benefit entity established in the UK
as a charitable incorporated organisats'on govemed by rts constitution daled 8 January 2021. The
Movements Trust operates from its regislered office. 7 Bell Yard, London, WC2A 2JR.

2.1 Basls of preparatlon of financlal statements
The financial stslemenls have been prepared in a¢cor¢Jance wth the Charities SORP IFRS 1021-
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordance wih ihe Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective 1 January 20191, the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Companies Act 2006.
The Movements Trust meets the definitirM of 8 public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are initially reccgnised at historical cost or transactson valu8 unless otherwise slated in the
rolevant accounting policy.
The financial Statements are presented in Sterling 1£) and rounded lo the nearest £.
2.2 C¢mpany status
The ￿mPanY 1$ a company limited by guarant99. Thg mombors of tho Company arg thg Trustéos
named on page 1. In the event of the company being wound up, the liability in respect of the
guarantee is limited to £1 per member ol the company.
2.3 Golng ¢¢n¢em
The Charity has prepared deiailed financial forecasts lor the next twelve months that show that the
charity has sufficient reserves and actual and lorecasl income for the period. Based on this
information the Trustees have concluded thal the charity has adequate resources to continue in
operational existence for the IoTe5eeable future, being not less than 12 month5 from the dale of
approval of these fin8ncial slalemenls. They therefore conlinve to 8¢Jopl the going con¢ern basis of
8ccounling in preparing the financial stslements.
2.4 Income
l income is recryJnised On￿ the Company has entiuemenl lo the income, (( 15 probable that the
income wll be received and the amount of i￿￿￿e receivable can be measured reli8bly.
Grants are included in the Statement of Financial Activities on a receivable basis. The balance of
income received for specific purposes but nol expended during the period is shown in the relevant
funds on ihe Balance Sheet. Where income is received in advance of entitlement of receipt, its
recognition is deferred and included in credilors as deferr￿1 income. Where entillemenl occurs
before income is received. the income is accrued.

2.5 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognis8d on¢8 there is a legal or construclive obligation to transfer economic benefit
to a third party. it is probable thal a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and
the amount of the obli9alion can be measured reliably. Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs
of each activity are made up of the total of direct costs and shared costs, including support costs
involved in undertaking each activity. Direct costs attributable to a single activity are allocated directly
to Ih818cbvity. Shared costs which conlnbute ¢0 more Ih8n one 8clivity and support costs which are
not attributable to a single activity are apportioned belween those activities on a basis consistenl with
the use ol resour¢es. Central staff costs are alk)caled on the basis of time spent, and depreciation
harges all(￿ted on the portion of Ihe asset's u￿.
Expenditure on charitsble acbvities is incurred on direcdy undertaking the activities which further the
Companls objoclives, 8$ well as any 8$8ociated support costs.
Grants payable are charged in the year v*hen the offer is made except in those cases where the offer
is condib'onal, such grants being recognised as expenditure when the conditions attaching are
fulfilled. Grants offered subject lo condilions which have not been met al the year end are noted as
commitment, trHJt not accrued as expendiluie.

2.6 Interest r•¢•lvablg
Interest on funds held on deposit is included vthen receivable and the amount can be measured
reliably by the Company: this is nomally UFM)n nolifi¢alion of thè interest paid or payable by the
inslilulion wth whom the funds a￿ dewsiled.
2.7 C4$h * bank and In hand
Cash at bank and in hand include5 cash and short-lerm highly liquid inve5trnents wth a short malurily
ol three months or Ivss Irom the dale of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account.
2.8 Llabllitl•$ and provl$lons
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation at the Balance Sheet date as a result of a past
evenl, it is probable that a transler ol economic benefit will be required in seitlement, and Ihe amount
of the settlement can be estimated reliably.
Liabilikn'es are re¢ognised al the amounl that Ihe Company anticipates it wll pay to settl& the debt or
the amount it has received as advanced payments lor the goods or services it must provide.
Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts required to settle the obligation. Where
the effect of the time value of money is material. the Provision is based on the present value of those
amounts. dI￿OUnted al the pre-tsx discount rale that reflects the risks specrfic to the liability. The
unwnding of the discount is re¢<yJnised in the Ststemenl ol Financial A¢tivities as a finan¢9 ¢osl.

2.9 Financial instruments
The Company only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualify as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised al transaclion valLJe and subsequently
measured at their seitlement value wilh the exception of bank loans which are subsequently
measured al amortised cost usiThJ the effective interest method.
2.10 P¢nslon$
The Company operates a defined conlribution pension scheme and the pension charge represents
the amounts payable by th9 Company to the fund in respert of the year.
2.11 Fund accountlng
General funds are unreslricled funds vknich are available f(Y use al the discreUon of the Trustees In
furthgrance of Ihe general objectives of the C¢ynpany and which have not been dgsignaled for other
purposes.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific reslriclions imposed by
donors or which have been Taise¢J by the Company for particular purposes. The costs of raising and
administering such funds are charge(18g8insl the specific fund. The alm and use of each reslrlcled
fund is sel out in thg noles lo the financial s¢atemenis.
