The Trustees ensure that the objective and aims of the organisation are carried out through its activities for the public benefit and details its achievements and activities in this report. The object of the Charity is: - To promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of music for the public benefit including, but not exclusively, by: `o` Supporting the preservation, restoration and maintenance of Leeds Town Hall and the Leeds Town Hall organ. The aims of the Charity are: - To engage in fundraising by means of applications to other trusts and foundations; - To engage in fundraising from individuals; - To support associated cultural and educational projects in Leeds Town Hall, such as joint projects with the Leeds Organ School, the Royal College of Organists and Education Leeds, that are designed to engage and enrich the lives of those living in Leeds as well as visitors to the City; and - To support and enable future generations to continue to access and enjoy high quality events that embrace a wide range of live music in the City’s most iconic building. ## **Achievements and performance** ## **1. Achievements** In the second year of its existence The Brodrick Trust charity has continued to raise funds for the restoration of the organ situated in Leeds Town Hall. At the beginning of the Summer 2022 the Trust embarked on a campaign to engage regular concert goers through personalised letters. Personalised letters to pipe organ enthusiasts, covering groups and individuals in the UK and internationally were also sent out. As a result a database of contacts has been created and work around this is ongoing. The Trust has found throughout the year that all aspects of fundraising remain very challenging, with Covid, Brexit and the cost-of-living crisis severely affecting private donations, funding priorities and business support. Despite all of these factors the Trust continues to think of new and innovative ways to tap into undiscovered funding. Performance** ## **Fundraising and Income Generation** 2022/23 saw the Brodrick Trust raise £4,433 including a £500 donation from the Chadwick Charitable Trust. The remaining donations were from the Town hall audience. ## **An application to the Hamish Ogsten Foundation has been favourably received and a significant donation is expected in 2023/24.** ## **Structure, Governance and Management** The Brodrick Trust’s governing document is a CIO Foundation Constitution. The Trust constitution requires a minimum of 3 Trustees and there are currently 6 Trustees who meet on a regular basis to review financial performance and plan future activity.
