The charity's principal activity is to make grants to individuals and organisations.
In setting objectives and planning for activities, the Trustees have giv8n dug consideration lo g8neral guidance

The charity r8cord8d incomg from donations of £115,813 in the year and made no grant awards.

After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a r8asonable expgclalion that th8 charity has adequate
resourc8s lo continue in operational existenc8 for th8 forgse8ablg future. FC￿ this reason, th@y continug to
adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements.

The Trustees have not set a r88gtV8s wlicy bul monitor reserves when ass8ssing grant avrards. As al 5 April
2024 the charity had frge resgtW8s of £116,390.

The management of the charity is the responsibility of the Ttustegs who are 818cted and co-oplgd under the

fraud and other irregularities.

Independent examinerfs report to the Trustees of The Bell Charitable Trust I'the charity.)
I report to the charity Trustees on my examination of the accounts of the chartty for the year ended 5 April
2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the Trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the
requir8ments of the Charities Act 2011 {'Ihe 2011 Act'l.
I report in respect of my examination of the tharity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act
and in carrying out my examination I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 145151(bl of the 2011 Act.
Independent examinerfs ststement
Your attention is drawn to the fact that the charity has prepared the accounts in 8ccord8nce with Accounting
and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their
accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Sland8rd applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland
IFRS 1021 in preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice
issued on 1 April 2(K)5 which is referred lo in the extant regulations but has been withdrawn.
l und8rstand that this has be8n done in ord8r for th8 accounts lo provide a true and fair vi8w in accordance with
the G8nerally Accepted Accounts'ng Practic8 effective for reporting peri(xJs beginning on or after 1 January
2015.
I have completed my examination. I confimi that no matters have come to my attention in connection wth the
ex8minalion giving me cause to believe that in any material respect..
accounting records w9rg not k8Pt in respect of th8 charity as required by section 130 of th8 2011 Act., or
the accounts do not accord with those records,. or
the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements Concerning the form and conlenl of

General infomiation
The Bell Charitable Trust is registered in England and Wales and its registered address is Rye Cottage,
Heath Road, Hickling, Norwch, NR12 OAX.
Lcounting policies
2.1 Basls of preparatlon of flnanclal statements
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021
Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Slalement of Recommended Practice applicable to charitigs
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland {FRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 20191, the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charities Act 2011.
The financial slat8menls have been prepared to give a 'true and fairf view and have departed from
the Charities (Accounts and Rgportsl Regulations 2008 only to the exlenl requirgd to providg a 'lrue
and fair, view. This departure has involved following the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 rather than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended
Practic8 8ff8cIIv8 from 1 April 2005 which has since been wlhdrawn.
The Bell Charitable Trust meets the definition of a public benefit enlily under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are initially recognis8d al historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise staled in the
relevant accounting policy.
2.2 Income
All income is recognised once the tharily has entitlement to the income, il is probable that the
income will b8 received and the amount of income receivatle can be Measur￿ reliably.
Income tax recoverable in relation lo donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is
recognised al the time of the donation.
2.3 Expendlture
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic
benefit to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in
Settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably.
Expenditure on charitable activities is incurred on directly undertaking the activities which further the
charity's objectives, as wdl as any associated support costs.

2.4 Interest receivable
Interest on funds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be mea￿red
reliably by the charity,. this is normally upon nolificalion of the interest paid C￿ payable by the
institution with whcm the funds are deposited.

2.5 Debtors
Trade and other debtors are recognised al the settlement amount after any trade discount offered.
Prepayments are valued al the amount prepaid net of any trade discounts due.
2.6 Cash at bank and in hand
Cash al bank and in hand includes cash and short-term highly liquid investments wth a short
maturity of three months or less from the date of 8CqUlSltion or opening of the deposit or similar
account.
2.7 Liabilities and provisions
Liabilities are recognised when the￿ is an obligation at the Balance sheet date as a result of a past
event, il is probable that a transfer of economic benefit wll be required in settlement, and the
amount of the settlement can be estimated reliably.

amount it has received as advanced payments for the goods or services it musl provide.
2.8 Financial instruments
The charity only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualify as basic financi81
instruments. Basic financial instruments a￿ initially recognised 81 transaction value and
subsequently measured at their settlement value.
2.9 Fund accounting
General funds are unrestricted funds which are 8V8il8ble for use at the discretion of the Trustees in
furtherance of the general objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for other
purposes.
