Strategy and Organisational Development
The charity's organisational strLKture and any wider network with which
the charity works. The charity started a slrategic planning and risk
management workstream to develop a short-medium term view ahead and
to provide a platfomi for which future trustees and management can use
to build upon and help direct the organisation.

Th8 charity introduced to its management committee a three-year budget
setting process to help infom future fundraising strategy. This process will
also ensure greater autonomy and transparency to heads of subsections
of the organisation. to improve effi￿enCY in managing their resources.
Budget setting will allow for a greater understanding of the forward plan
and links to the strategic blueprint, targeted fundraising strategy and
provides an abilty to act with autonomy on relevant spending.

Health and Safety Compliance Project Group
The Charity launched a review, with trustees. consideration. of major risks
and the system and procedures to manage them - the workstream covers
health & safety and compliance
Lèadership and Succession planning
The charity initiated a review of the targeted appointment of roles
regarding key roles (being considered outside of the standard operational
recruitment process). Specific gaps were identÉfied for both fundraising
and finance. We have created new Tole descriptions for a treasurer
trustee.

Organisational Management
The charity completed a review of the management meeting structure and
deemed it necessary to combine two meetings into one holistic,
streamlined organisational management meeting with the heads of each
subsection. A new Terms of Reference was created for the Management
Committee Meeting, allowing for clear boundaries to be set the attending
members.

We continued our support to the local community responding to incidents
across the county (Surrey) and neighbouring counties including London
and Sussex.
We onboarded a new intske of volunteers at the end of 2022 and have
bolstered our active members. enabling us lo maintain a high level of
operational responsiveness to callouts..

Our peak activrty is unpredictable and can vary seasonally. We are
seeing a trend toward lower callouts over the summer months, with
spikes in callout numbers and incident hours in the darker months of the
year. A trend could be obseThed between February and June as having
higher callout numbers and inadent hours than other times in the year.
We continue to collect this data and maintain open feedback loops and
communications streams with Surrey Police.
We have achieved an operational Dog member of the team which is
recognised as a great achievemenl the charity is proud of due to the
number of training hours and dedication put in.
We have bolstered our Membership and Wellbeing leadership roles to
now have two ccpleads on this area - one male and one female.
Surrey SAR'S trustees confirm Ihey have complied with their duty to have
due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the charity
commission in exercising their pt)wers or duties.

New Intake Survey
The newest intske of volunteers in September 2023 has completed the
first survey so we can capture lessons learned. The survey provides
feedback from the recruitment. and onboarding through to the ST
training. Membership strategy wll build on this with a membership
survey bi-annual going forward.

We do nol have a policy on reserves. However. as a trustee committee
with the review of our capital assets and the awareness of the wider
financial climate a￿0$$ the chartty sector. The trustees are currently
undertaking an exercise of reserves addressing why. what. how much,
and when the reserves can be used. This will form a new reseNes policy
for 2024. We have agreed that this policy will be reviewed annually.
