TRUSTEES, ANNUAL REPORT
The Trustees present their annual report, the accounts for the charlty for the perlod of l April 2023
to 31" March 2024.
The Trustees confirm that they have regard to the 8uldance on publlc beneflt published by the
charity commlssion.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

Vlllage Church, Emersons Green, is a registered charlty Ino. 11943621, registered in England and
Wales. The Charity Is governed by 2 maln documents, whlch are the'vlllage Church Constltutlon,
and 'Vllla8e Church Handbook,, both of whlch were adopted on 2511121 as part of the 5Ltbmission to
become an Independent charity. This constitutes as an Incorporated charrty.
Re¢rultment and •ppolnlment of new TrnsteeslElders/Dea¢ons
The Church's appolnlment of Elders and a Treasurer are the Mana8lng Trustees of the Charlty. The
Mana8lng Trustees are selected on thelr rnernbershlp and positlon wlthin the Church ènd are elected
by a majorlty vote of members present at a Members, Meetlng166% for Elders and Deacons), Elders
and Deacons ère elected for an Indeflnlle period.
At Village Church the Managlng Trustees are the Elders Ilncludlng the Pastorl and the Treasurer
Iwhols a Deacon) who have been appointed (Pastor) or elected IElders/Treasurerl by those people
who have been admitted into full membershlp of Village Church.
The Managlng Trustees are responsible for making decisSons on all matters of general concern and
Importance to the ChLtrch, including deciding on how the funijs are to be spent over the year.
Deacon posltlons are appolnted to support In overseelng the practlcal runnlng of the Charity to
support the Mana8ing Trustees.
All those who can agree wlth our basls of falth and 5ubmlt to the Church rules are encouraged to
apply to become members of the Church.
The Elder5 retain splrltual overslght of the Church, In accordance wlth the Church handbook. and
meet regularly durlng temi tlmes over the course of the year.
The ManaglnB Trustees meet a mlnlmum of 3 tlmes a year together and. If required, meet wlth the
Deacons durlnB the year. The Charlty also hold a mlnlmum of 3 Members. Meetlng5 a year with the
wlder members of the Charltvlchurch.

Alm and Purpose
Village Church wa5 Started in April 2010 as a satelllte congregatlon of Kensington Baptist Church
(Charity Number 11352721. On 6, May 2021. Village Church was forme(l as a separate CIO Charity.
We have been funrtioning independently but durlng thls perlod Village Church accounts were still
mana8ed as part of Kenslwon Baptlst Church (Charriy Number 11352721, until 28, February 2023.
From the l March 2023, the Vlllage Church became fully Independent from Kensington Baptist
Church and commence malntalnln8 our own flnances.
Village Church IVCI, Emersons Green exists to advance the Christian Falth. prlmarily but not
excluslvely, wlthln the Bristol and 5urroundinB nelghbourhood and to undertake other charitable
purposes that further the work of the Church.

In settSng oblectlves and planning actlv5ties, the Trustees have given due consideratlon to Beneral
gLbidance published by the Charlty Commission relating to public benefit and in particular to its
supplementary publlc benefit guldance on The Advancement of RelSglon for the Publlc Beneflt.

The Trustees have a rlsk management strategy whlch comprlses of:
An annual revlew of the prlnclpal rlsks and uncertainties that the Charity faces.
The establlshment of pollcies, systems, and proceLlures to mitigate those identlfled rlsks.
The Implementation of procedure5 designed to mlnlmlse or manage any potential Impact on
the Charitv.
The rSsk mana8ement revlew has Identlfled that financlal sustainability is the malor financlal rlsk for
the Charity. A key element in the management of financial rlsk Is the regular revlew of reserves and
the ablllty of Ilquld funds to settle debts as they fall due.
In addltion, attentlon 55 also 8lven to non-financial rlsks whlch includes governance, operational,
external and environmental risks and complSance wlth law and regulations. The rlsk management
review has Identlfied safe recrultment, tralnln8 and regular monitoring of all Chlldren and Youth
workers and those workin8 With adulis where safeBuardinB 15 applicable.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Worshlpi Prayer, and Community
Village Church offer a range of services during the week over the course of the year.
Village Church hold services on Sunday momings, where the con8re8atlon and visitors can singi and
hear the Bible being taught an(1 can see how it can be applled to our day to day lives.
In addltlon, the Church places an Important emphas15 on and prayer and bible study. There15
opportunlty on FrSday mornings for people to pray online together, as well as prayer meetin8S
approximately twice a month on a Sunday afternoon. There are also Homegroups where we study
the Bible on Tuesday or Wednesday evenlngs throughout each term.
We contlnue to offer opportunlties for our Youth to meet soclally together and other time5 to
explore and asked que511on5 about the Christlan falth.
Over the past year, we have continued to encourage one another and have been explorlng how we
an engage and 5UPPOrt the communSty. Last Chrlstmas, we reached out to local primary schools to
see how we could help provlde food voucheis for famllles who were strug8llng.
The Church Pr•mlses
Vlllage Church, Emerson5 Green does not own Its own premlses and therefore we meet at our
prSmary locatlon, a local Prlmary school.. Man8Otsfleld Primary School.
MlssSon and Evon8ellsm
Ourln8 the year, we held speclal servlces.. Remembrance Servlce and Chrlstmas Services that proved
popular; for example, a Tradltlonal Carol Serv1￿ and an All A8e Carol Servlce.
In the local rnagazlne we place an artlcle usually at least once ? quarter to advertise our services and
events.

Village Church has one member of staff . the Pastor. For thls perlod, he was funded by the Vllla8e
Church, Emer50n5 Green for thls financlal year.
Outslde relatlonshlps
Village Church contlnues to be a member of the FIEC and adopts the Bas15 of Falth ès Its own. We are
also part of the Southwest Gospel Partnershlp.
We are seeklng to build relationships wlth other local Churche5 Sn the surroundlng area.

Volunteers
The practlcal runnlng of the Church on a Sunday and other artSvSties that are put on is supported by
volunteers from wlthin the Church. We would like to thank all our volunteers who serve in settin8 up
each week, music, audio visual, refreshments, Chlldren's work and Youth aubs to name a few.
Tralnln8
Chllil Safeguardln8 tralning is arranged for new volunteers supportlng Chlldren and Youth work and
refresher tralning is run a5 requlred for exlstlng volunteers.
As and when trainln8 needs are Identified, we will endeavour to ensure people attend approprSite
tralnin& for example Flrst Ald.
Flnanclal revlew
For the perlod of I" Aprll 23 to 31" March 2024, the accounts were fully managed by the Vlllage
Church, Emersons Green.
The flnanclal report wlll reflect the funds that Vlllage recelved from I" Aprll 2023 to 31 March 2024.
Durln8 thls perlod, the income was £96,925 and expenditure was £97,253. There was a deficit of
£328 for the year, of whlch thls was eovered from assetslsavin8S.
We are, carrylng over funds of £52,068 Into the followlng flnanclal year. We are thankful and
grateful for the generous glfts of our members and conBre8ation.

Vlllage Church, Emersons Green has a policy which 15 to malntaln a balance on unre5trlcted funds Ilf
possiblel. Thls equates to a mlnlmum of £30,000 to cover emergency sltuatlons that may arlse from
tlme to tlme,
