Snapshot (survey) completed of the
children’s and youth work churches

Launch event on 28 November 2021,
attended by over 50 young people from
six different churches, featuring
‘tasters’ of the planned Youth Cafe and
Sports Outreach provisions, as well as a
time of worship.

Workgroup for young people held to
develop ideas for the name, logo, and
strapline of the trust, with design
commissioned based on their ideas.
•
‘Young People’s Shaping Group’
developed, to help enable young
people to shape the provision of a
Youth Cafe, where secondary / sixth
form students will have the| |||opportunity to relax and reflect, and
meet with youngsters from other
schools.

ECHO Event with games, food, and
worship, held on 6 March 2022, and
attended by around 50 young people.
This event also featured a new ‘zone’
called the ‘Music Room’ shaped and
delivered by young people; providing a
relaxed space for youngsters to drop in
and have a worship jam together.

Sports Outreach Team developed, and
‘Soul Sport’ club (with a stream for
primary, and a stream for secondary,
school children) successfully launched
on 29 March 2022 – creating space for
youngsters to play sport and explore
faith.

Hosted visit from the Bishop of Oxford
on 31 March 2022, providing the
opportunity for the young people’s,
and churches’, contributions to the

greatly on volunteers from local churches,
and would like to put on record its
appreciation for their assistance.| |Other||In the first financial year of operation,
considered to be from April 2021, the workers
linked to the trust were employed by their
partnership churches, with the expectation
that the trust would take over employment as
soon as it was able to, and the churches would
be reimbursed for the cost of work done for| the trust. Because of operational delays (in charity registration, in opening a bank account, and in obtaining initial funds) the workers were only transferred into the trust’s employment on 1/1/22, and the trust agreed with Didcot Baptist Church and Ridgeway Church Didcot that the sum of £5000 each would not be reimbursed until suitable funds had been obtained from fundraising efforts. In addition, Kings Church Didcot made a donation of £5000 on the understanding that this was payment in advance for the employment of a youth worker shared between Kings and the Trust. At the signature date of this report all funds for DBC and Ridgeway had been returned, but an appointment had not yet been made with Kings and so the £5000 donation remained unallocated. ## **Achievements and Performance** ||SORP reference|| |---|---|---| |Summary of the main

‘Volunteer Intern’s Placement’ during June
– August 2021 (linked to a partner church)
provided an Undergraduate Theology
Student with the opportunity to engage
with the trust and develop their skills and
understanding in children’s and youth
work.

Out of the 19 people on the ‘Event Team’
for the Nov 2021 launch, 4 were young
people, actively involved in the planning,
preparation, and delivery - developing their
communication and leadership skills.

Initial church visits in the Autumn of 2021
to four different churches, to build
relationships, share about the trust, and to
encourage engagement with its activities.
Approximately 300 people engaged with.

Visits made to local youth groups, and
youth workers actively involved in their
‘home’ partner churches’ work with young
people. Through these approximately 70
young people have been engaged with;
providing the opportunity for the young
people to grow in their understanding of
life and faith.

An ‘Event Team’ of 27 people were
involved in the ECHO Event on 6 March, a
number of whom were young people, thus
encouraging the young people to grow in

objectives of the charity.
The trust’s principal source of grant income for
its first year of operation has been a grant from
the anglican Diocese of Oxford, which is due to
continue (but at a decreasing level) for the next
four financial periods.
Donations have been received from two
churches and some individuals – it is hoped to
increase the value and number of such
