l. Introduction
Sevenoaks (Loaves & Fishes) Foodbank a150 known as Loaves and Fishes Foodbank and
Sevenoaks Foodbank (hereafter the-chariv or the"FoodbanVI was set up in 2010 a5 an
unincorporated charitable association. It was replaced on the 29 April 2021 by a charitable
incorporated organisation foundation ICIO} and the original association was dismantled
{Trustees' meeting of 22 July 20211.
It was registered with the Charity Commission on 5 May 2021 under the number 1194341.

This is the Annual Report of the Trustees for the period l May 2023 to 30 April 2024.
2. Trustees
In accordance with s.10.2. of the Constitution, the Parochial Church Council of St John the
Baptist Church in Sevenoaks may appoint one charity trustee, being either the main priest or

4. Objectives and Activities
The Foodbank is acting for the Public Benefit in accordance with the Charity Commission
Guidelines. The object of the Charity is to relieve financial hardship by providing food and
other essential Supplies to families and individuals in need, in both Sevenoaks and the
surrounding area.
The activities of the charity include:
The distribution of food and other essential supplies to be collected by the recipients
every Thursday from the Hall situated at the registered address
The offer of a friendly and welcoming space for the recipients to stay for a chat and
refreshments
The delivery of food for recipients in an emergency where they cannot reach the Hall
The collection of food through churches. schools, organisations, and individuals in
and around Sevenoaks
Cooperation with other charities and shops to obtain fresh food and hygiene
products to be distributed
Cooperation with other food banks in the Sevenoaks area to Share excess supplies
Making local residents aware of the existence ofthe Charity and how they can
provide support
5. Achievements and performance
5.1 Donations
5.1.1 In goods
Over the past year, the Charity received food donations from a number of sources,
namely churches. schools. organisations (from football clubs to toddlers. groups) as
well as many individuals. For this accountin8 period donations totalled £20,825

The Charity also received special donations from several churches such as Easter
Eggs, Hot Cross buns, Christmas cakes, Christmas puddings. Every primary school
child registered with the Charity is provided with a birthday cake through Cokesfor
Kids
The Charity also received bread and pastries that are collected from the local bakery
"Gail's" and Sairtrsbury Local
Fresh fruit and vegetables are bought at low cost from "FareShare-. given by a local
person and bought from Morrisons.
As well as the food donations. the Beauty Bank has supplied the Charity with hygiene
and cleaning products
5.1.2 Extra support
This year, extra support was given to the recipients thanks to regular visits from other
charities: Crosslight which gives debt management advice. HERO for access to fund5 and
other government support. West Kent Housing Association, Quest (Math lessons for
adults). Financial Hardship Support {KCCI as well as visits from the Samaritans. Our
recipients have also benefited from visits by Citizens Advice staff.
Distribution
The majority of the Charitvs donations are to households and single people.
The recipients of the Charitys support are referred by Neighbourhood Housing
Officers, CAB. Benefits Agency. Social Services. HEROS Isevenoaks District Council)
and other approved agencies. Additionally. emergency food can be provided for
families or individuals in response to self-referrals via the website if no fomial
referral from these agencies has yet been received.
Numbers of clients benefiting from our services were as follows:
During the year we saw a steady turnover of clients. with new people arriving and
others moving on as their circumstances changed. In total we welcomed around 79
new clients during the course of the year, representing 169 individuals in their
households. The turnover meant that numbers on our books were relatively con-
stant. As of l May 2023, 46 clients were registered with the foodbank. At the end of
April 2024, 48 clients were registered with the foodbank, with a total of 131 people
provided foT in the households they represented.
The Charity distributes a range of non-perishable food items, fresh fruit, vegetables
bread and milk together with cheese and eggs on alternate weeks through a person-
al self-select shopping experience. The recipients are a150 provided with other type5
of essential household products such as hygiene items and cleaning products

The Foodbank operates every Thursday when clients come during the afternoon to
selett items prepared for distribution
Supermarket vouchers were given out at Christmas. Sevenoaks Lions Club also
donated additional supermarket vouchers for each client registered over the
Christmas period
In emergency situations when recipients were unable to come to the Foodbank to
collect donations of food etc, these were delivered directly to their home
After the Harvest Festival and Christmas. the Charity was able to r&dirert its excess
of food to Elim Christian Centre Foodbank in Swanley. The Charity also provided Elim
Christian Centre Foodbank Swanley with £990 worth of food from Morrisons durin8
the year.
Volunteers
The Charity comprises 18 volunteers, 4 of them being trustees. The volunteers re-
ceive, sort and store the donations and then prepare the food items for distribution
as well as welcoming clients and providing refreshment5.
During the academic year. teams of two students from a local school joined the
charity for the afternoon shift on a temporary basis
6. Financial Review
Policy on Reserves
The Chariws operations are based predominantly on food inlout rather than fundraising.
The running costs of the Charity are very low because the hall where it operates is provided
by St John Church for free and the Church also covers the cost of electricity- No wages are
paid as the charity is staffed in full by volunteers. The trustees have therefore decided that
reserves can be as low as £2.000.
Summary ofthe Accounts
The Charity has been supported with financial and 'in-kind' donations from numerous
individuals as well as the many local churches and organisations. So far. it has had no need
to fundraise actively. Some individuals have undertaken some fundraising on a personal
basis and donated the money raised to the Foodbank.
Besides private donors and charitable donations, the Charity was awarded grants from
Sevenoaks Distritt Council in the sum of £8,66612023- £4,919).

The total income of the Charity over the last year amounts to £29,49112023= £17.9541 and
the expenditure of £23,66412023= £15,986). Expenditure is solely in line with the objectives
of the Charity in providing food and essentials for households in need.
