1.19|21 Plus offer several activities throughout
the year to benefit the lives of children with
down syndrome, these include:

Talk time group. A weekly speech
and development group, supporting
preschool to primary age children.
Families get fantastic support from
each other. Our children get a
brilliant opportunity to develop their
speech and language using
educational recourses and aids
which are tailored to their needs.
Nicola Williams and Victoria Hughes
are our trained symbol workers who
run these sessions.

School support. Offered to all our
subscribers. Supporting our children
from pre-school primary, to
Secondary and College. Victoria
Hughes and Nicola Williams
continue to offer this fantastic
service. Schools and Families have
expressed how the support,
guidance, training and provision of
school support have been
invaluable.

Youth group. We have over 15
members who attend regularly, run
by Victoria Hughes and Nicola
William and occasional volunteers.
Life skills, social scenarios, games,
cooking are all examples of
activities organised with always a
focus on improving communication|
|||skills and confidence.

Summer camp. An annual week
long speech and sports camp
offering intensive specialist speech
and language therapy, provided
through Symbol and whole child
therapy. This is a fantastic
opportunity for our children, jammed
packed with various sports activities
with speech and language support
at the core.

Youth camp. A fantastic opportunity
for our young adults to have a
residential stay in Cardiff. Speech
and Language therapy provided by
Symbol specialists. Various
activities throughout the week
encouraging independence, social
skills, discussing emotions, and
social scenarios empowering our
young adults.

Annual Education conference.
Aimed at schools/families and
anyone working or supporting the
young person with Down Syndrome.
The conference offers a wealth of
knowledge and resources to
attendees. Delegates are introduced
to the learning profile of pupils and
the principles of differentiation which
can support and include children.
The conference attracts over 100
plus attendees.

Workshops focussing on sensory,
and behaviour. These are fantastic
opportunities for families and those
working with the young person with
DS.

Monthly meet ups. Organised by
trustees, giving families and children
a chance to meet up involving
various activities for example;
swimming, surfing, soft play
gymnastics and bike rides.|

several activities to enhance and improve
the lives of young people with down
syndrome.
Talk time, school support, youth group
have been a fantastic success this year.
Families have found these services
invaluable. Our Talk time participates love
the weekly meet ups, their children are
benefiting greatly from the support and
guidance that Victoria and Nicky offer, and
the parents find invaluable support
amongst each other.
Online talk time sessions are run every
week with our school aged children. With
one face to face meet up a Month with the
children and their 1:1. This is a fantastic
service for the school and our children
where the school gain insight into
supporting our children in the best way.
School support has in some cases helped
children stay in school rather than looking
at an alternative placement. Schools also
find the support and resources provided a
huge benefit.
Our youth group enjoyed quiz night,
games, cooking acting, social scenarios.
Our leaders worke hard in providing fun
and engaging activities for our young
people. Fantastic friendships with each
other due to the consistency of seeing each
other regularly. This is so important for
parents, seeing their children form strong
and purposeful relationships
Our Sports camp, workshops, conference,
and social events such as Easter egg hunt
have all been a huge success. This gave
our children an opportunity to try different
supporting activities which some have gone
on to pursue e.g. disability gymnastic and
swimming lessons. Again families
connected and children’s well -being
boosted. We also organised a fantastic
Christmas party at a Monmouthshire soft
play for the children and families. They all
had a great get together, dancing playing
games enjoying each other’s company and
forming lasting friendships. 21 plus has
become an extended family to the majority
of our families who feel connected,|

understood and can support each other. Giving the best opportunities to our children with down syndrome with high expectations for our children for the future.

|Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end

unincorporated charity to a CIO. We
opened the new charity on the 5thMay
2021.
All accounts and annual reports are up to
date.
As you will see from the accounts £15,443
has been spent on school support which is
an invaluable service to both families and
educational settings. Talk time £10,004,
youth group-£1,647.
These services are an incredible support to
all our subscribers to 21 plus benefiting
toddler age groups to young adults with
down syndrome. Please visit our website to
see all testimonies from our parents who
benefit from these services.
21 plus benefited from incredible donation
of £8,500 from Blackwood Engineering who
have been a fantastic support to our
charity. We have also received £7,319 in
donations mainly raised by our amazing
families who want to support 21plus and
see its sustainable future. These incredible
donations have allowed 21 plus to carry on
providing outstanding services to all to
subscribers.
Summer camp cost the charity £15,754 and
youth camp cost £4,534. These were big
expenses to the charity however the
outcomes and the benefit that these camps
give our children and families are
significant. 21 plus hopes to successfully
run both camps every year.|
