## Incorporation and Objectives

WMS was incorporated as a charitable incorporated organisation and registered with the Charity Commission on 29[th] Apr 2021.

The objectives of WMS, as set out in its constitution are :

“To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people (particularly but not exclusively older men), within the area of Ware and surrounding area, from becoming socially excluded. Relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society through the provision of facilities in which they learn to pass on skills and knowledge and support each other socially.”

## Activities

When the WMS charity was established in April 2021, it was planned to start operating from the Southern Maltings building in Ware. However, shortly thereafter the proposed space was found to be in need of substantial repair and was no longer available to the charity.

Since then, WMS has been actively looking for a new home, but has not as yet found one and has not been able to start providing the services it was set-up for.

Despite this setback there have been some positives.

- In looking for a new space, we have approached many local bodies, including the local town and district councils, local housing associations and other businesses, the local scouts and various local sports clubs. Some of these have yielded possible ways forward that we are still pursuing, but as a side benefit, we have substantially raised our profile within the local community, which will be a great benefit as and when we are able to start operating properly.

- We continue to get a lot of interest from men wanting to join the shed.

- We also regularly get donations of tools and other equipment that we will use in the shed when it is in operation. These are currently being stored in a rented garage that is funded by a grant from Ware Town Council.

The primary goal for the coming year is to find a new location to operate from and to get the shed properly established.
