ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31[ST] MARCH 2023
From the Trustees
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful, May the peace, blessings and mercy of Allah be upon you and your family”.
Introduction
The Charity was incorporated as a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) on 29 April 2021. The Charity was incorporated as the CIO that would be the successor to ‘The Shropshire Islamic Foundation’ which is registered at the Charity Commission with Charity Registration Number of 1112127. Whilst the incorporation process has been completed, legal advice obtained has indicated that the full undertaking of the unincorporated SIF cannot be transferred to the CIO until such time as all assets are transferred – in particular the property at King Street – the latter of which is likely to involve an application to the Land Registry. Advice has been obtained from both a firm of solicitors as well as a property specialist Barrister (the latter of which has kindly provided some support and assistance without charge).
This process has been delayed largely due to a change in solicitors, with the firm of solicitors who dealt with the incorporation of the CIO (based out of Birmingham) being replaced by a local firm. This has required a review of the work undertaken by the previous legal advisers and it was noted that some required paperwork had not been completed by that firm and with some paperwork that had been prepared being of a pro-forma nature and therefore requiring amendment. In addition, investigate work has been undertaken at the Land Registry in relation to the property at King Street, with a critical document from the original registration of the property being identified, which will assist with application to the Land Registry.
Therefore, the necessary legal work is being undertaken to complete the asset transfers. It is planned that the legal process will be completed in time for next year’s annual report. Please see Trustees Annual report filed under charity 1112127 filed for the year ending 31 March 2023 for further details and information.
For now therefore for the reporting year, the Charity has had no financial activity, there have been no transactions such as deposits or withdrawals during the period, as confirmed by the auditor’s report (see below).
