Three varied programmes were rehearsed and performed under the expert and inspirirbg
direction of our Director of Music, Peter Siepmann. Singers, orchestral players and audience
all expressed their joy and pleasure.
We were particularly glad to be joined by the Children'5 Choir of St Mary's for Messiah.
Their youthful enthusiasm and dedication lifted the performance. Abigail Barker, our
bursary award winner in 2023 was a sparkling 50101st in our June concert.
Financial Review
The Choirfs revenue position h35 improved steadily, continuing the underlying trend of
recovery post-covid. Membership has grown. audiences at concerts have grown, fund
raising activitie5 continue and costs are under control.
In addition, we received an enormous boost from the generous bequest left by Meryl
Aldridge. This has effettively transformed our finances. Trustees and members of the choir
are now in the enviable position of having the resources to enable us to pursue new ideas.
The charftVs pollcy on reserves
The Choir should hold a minimum level of reserves to cover'disastert contingenry, such os
a season's concerts being cancelled or no subscriptions being paid by members, plus any
liability for venue hire, professional performer fee5 etc. This yearfs estimate of this Is
£20,000; the Choirfs current re5erve5 exceed this level.
