Singers. orchestral players and audience all expressed their joy and pleasure. The bursary competition was won by Abigail Barker, who received an increased award of £2,000. The other two finalists a150 both received a financial award. Financial Revlew The Choir remains in the fortunate position of holding considerable reserves, which enabled it to ride out the pandemic. However, the reduction in members and concert-goers has led to a considerable Ibut expected) financial loss in the year. Although the "bottom line" loss is similar to last year, it should be noted that roughly £3.000 of this related to the bursary. The Choir has already taken steps to addre55 this.. seeking new ways of informing and attracting 3udierices- balancing costs with performance quality; looking to raise revenue from within the choir and external sponsor5,' reviewing our investments and financial holdings. This is likely to be a theme of the next few years. The chariVs policy on reserves The Choir should hold a minimum level of reserves to cover "disasterf contingency, such as a season's concerts bein8 cancelled or no subscription5 being paid by members. plus any liability for venue hire. professional performer fees etc. This yearfs estimate of this is £20,000,. the Choirfs current reserves exceed this level. I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under sertion 14515llbl of the Act.
