The Trustees are pleased to present the Annual Trustee report for the year 2025.

We express our joy in regaining our freedom after enduring pandemic-related restrictions. However, economic challenges persist as a result of this calamity.

Since the last Annual General Meeting (AGM), we have had a successful year engaging with the community through various social events. These include the seniors gathering, picnic in the midlands, Navratri celebrations in East London, Midlands, and London, along with the recently held largest Diwali function in the history of the Samaj. The success of these events is attributed to the wholehearted support of our members, the dedicated team of volunteers, and the generosity of sponsors and

advertisers. The trustees extend their gratitude to all involved and hope for continued support in the coming year and beyond.

To build on these achievements, we aim to organize more inclusive events for our youth, who are the foundation of our future. Volunteers are being given increased responsibilities, and our administrative structure is expanding. Over the past 12 months, we have appointed secretarial, treasury, and membership teams. Two co-opted members have actively contributed to trustee initiatives, reflecting their keen interest and sense of responsibility. The trustees remain committed to fostering strong team building for the enduring strength of our Samaj.

In conclusion, the trustees express their gratitude to the membership for entrusting them with confidence and support.

The Trustees (who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act) pleasure in presenting their annual report together with the unaudited financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31st May 2025. The Trustees confirm that the Annual report and financial statements of the charity comply with the current statutory requirements, the requirements of the charity's governing document and the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in March 2005.

Structure, governance and management

Constitution

The charity is registered as a members' limited liability company and was incorporated on 28th May 2015. The charity is constituted under its Memorandum and Articles of Association and is a registered charity number 1194211.

In the event of the charity being wound up, any surplus assets remaining after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities may not be paid to or distributed among the members, but must be transferred to such other charitable institution or institutions having objects similar to the objects of the charity.

Objectives and activities

The advancement of Hindu religion, tradition and culture in particular among the Hindu community in the United Kingdom usually referred to as the Saurashtra Leuva Patel Samaj, which originates from Saurashtra, Gujarat State in India;

The aims of the Charity are "To enhance the quality of life through education,cultural, social and sports events and instil values that will benefit society".

Use of volunteers

Volunteers are an important resource in our community work. Volunteers are involved in most of the activities of the Charity who regularly give up their time and are available whenever the Charity needs their services.All of the trustees and Executive Committee and volunteer members give their time freely. We encourage all members of the community to be involved in voluntary activities and to share their skills with others.

Public Benefit

In setting out the objectives and planning the activities, the Trustees' have given careful consideration to complying with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission.With public benefit in mind the Charity provides appropriate communal facilities for recreational, social, sports, cultural activities.

Achievements and performance

During the current year the charity had a successful year engaging with the community through various social events. These include the seniors gathering, picnic in the midlands, Navratri celebrations in East London, Midlands, and London, along with the recently held largest Diwali function in the history of the Samaj.

Senior Citizens Gathering

Meets once a year to provide various activities including Bhajans and Dayro, followed by discussion hot lunch and light entertainment. At times hold forum on topics of Health and Family. the aim of the gathering is to enhance the Social Skills of getting out and meeting people, Independence and to overcome the feeling of Isolation.

Navratri 2025

Navratri is the holiest religious event in the Hindu calendar and this is celebrated by the Samaj at multiple locations like Watford and East London. Religious prayers take place throughout the celebration days of the festival together with traditional dances.

Diwali

Diwali is one of the biggent event organised by the SLP Samaj UK, 2025 Diwali celebration held at Harrow over 850 member join the celebration.Diwali and the Hindu New Year are two of the most important and colourful festivals of the Hindu calendar this is a time to celebrate and reinforce family values, charity and goodwill. There are many activities done during the celebration like children games and dance, Business meetup, health check and variouse stage performance by samaj members.

Badminton

The SLP UK badminton club was formed in 2023 to give an opportunity to all members of the samaj to come together so that they can compete, participate, get active & meet other members of our community.From 2023, we started with 40 members and have now grown to over 150. There has been a positive response from both men and women who have picked up the sport at different ages and skill levels allowing the club to be welcoming for all people.The club also hosts the annual 'SLP Open' Badminton Tournament for Men's and Women's doubles which had a record number of 50 participants in 2025.Inclusivity, the promotion of activeness and networking within the Samaj remains the main aim of the club and we welcome anyone who wishes to join!

Financial review

The net surplus/(deficit) for the charity for the period was £ 6,933 (2024: £15,560)

Risk Management and Investment Policy

The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to generating income.

The trustees have made no risk related investments. A formal review is undertaken regularly to ensure that all surplus funds are invested in bank and building society accounts at best rates of interest.

Plans for future periods

The charity will continue its activities to further its charitable objectives. In addition, it plans to provide matrimonial services, recognise members’ notable achievements in education, social service, professional fields, sports, and community development, and acknowledge patrons through legacy and appreciation awards for their sustained contributions and service.

Trustees' Responsibilites Statement

The charity's trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).

The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under that law the trustees have elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). The trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and the income and expenditure of the charity for that period.

In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:

 State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and

 Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.

The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the charity's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of SAURASHTRA LEUVA PATEL SAMAJ UK ('the charity') for the year ended 31 May 2025.

Responsibilities and basis of report

The trustees are also the directors of the company for the purposes of company law are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit under company law and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or

  2. the financial statements do not accord with those records; or

  3. the financial statements do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or

  4. the financial statements have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102).

1. General information

The charity is a public benefit entity and a private company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales and a registered charity in England and Wales. The address of the registered office is C/O Kavyaa Accountancy Ltd, 26 Barnhurst Path, Watford, WD19 6TT, England.

2. Statement of compliance

These financial statements have been prepared in compliance with FRS 102, 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland', the Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (Charities SORP (FRS 102)) and the Companies Act 2006.

3. Accounting policies

Basis of preparation

The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis, as modified by the revaluation of certain financial assets and liabilities and investment properties measured at fair value through income or expenditure.

The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the entity.

Going concern

There are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue.

Fund accounting

Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees to further any of the charity's purposes.

Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the trustees for particular future project or commitment.

Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure declared by the donor or through the terms of an appeal, and fall into one of two sub-classes: restricted income funds or endowment funds.

Incoming resources

All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when entitlement has passed to the charity; it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the charity and the amount can be reliably measured. The following specific policies are applied to particular categories of income:

Resources expended

Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is classified under headings of the statement of financial activities to which it relates:

All costs are allocated to expenditure categories reflecting the use of the resource. Direct costs attributable to a single activity are allocated directly to that activity. Shared costs are apportioned between the activities they contribute to on a reasonable, justifiable and consistent basis.
