The faalty has been established for just over one year. The 'Shed' consists of a workshop and a separate soryal area. They are open for ) momings per week providing a venue for members to socialise and take part in joint activities. Grant5 obtained have been utilised to equip the workshop which can accommodate 12- 15 members per day, cognisanl of superwsion and safety requirements. Items and projects made in the workshop are sold to raise funds or are members personal projects. The social area contains a kitchen, tables and chairs which enatrAes members to meet purely on a social basis. They liaise Mth members and acl as their ce at the monthly meekn'ngs. Members indLJde those frorn t8rget client groups. particularly Ihose are socially isolated. An increasing number of members are taking part who are living on their own and friendships are developing that extend beyond the'shed,. Some members are not physically or mentslly able to take part individually in actsvilies bwth potentially hazardous equipment or dusty environments, however they are supervised so that they are nol excluded or they partake in purely social activities (game playing). Some mernbers have extensive praclical knolmedge from their working lives and share these Trmllingly with others. Social activities such as a boat trip and a Christmas lunch have taken place. The 'Shed' has worked with other community groups i.e making a Coronats'on workbench and planter5 for an out of School club and supporting a local supermarket in raising awareness of Kial exdusion in the communit . Funding, membership fees and donations have enabled the shed to maintain it's reserves while meeting expenses. The shed now has a base of members which is bein buili on. Trustees were SusSfUl in maintsining a relationship wilh Tesco's and Barton Council who have been extremely suppK)rknve. as well as other local buinesses and the local Rolary Club. A successful lottery fijnding bid has helped develop the facilty and supp¢)rt members who struggle financially. A mix of restricted and non restricted funding has been raised. Trustees continue to approach other organisations and chartties for funding ortunities.
