Growing Mansfield has worked across local community allotments with
groups of vulnerable people, engaging them both as volunteers, and
beneficiaries.
Growing Mansfield has run several schemes to enable local residents to
obtain and use fresh produce grown on these allotments. These include
crop drops, taking produce directly to where is needed, and door-to-door
produce deliveries to vulnerable isolated people. The project has
engaged with groups from all sectors of the community, from small
children through to teenagers and young people attending a college
course. Our project also includes young adults who are struggling with
addiction and homelessness, and older people who may be isolated and
in need of support.
Growing Mansfield have also supported a number of volunteers to gain
skills and confidence, and to engage with other local horticulture projects,
thus furthering their personal development and learning.|

Amanda Fisher with the help from John run this community project (Northfield Allotment) with incredible hard work and dedication. They are both welcoming, encouraging and very supportive ‘open’ and honest people. Northfields is made and grown with care and compassion for the community and its volunteers.
