Contribution made by volunteers P8ra 1.38 Other Achievements and Performance SORP reference The band have played several concerts and events this year which have all been well attended and enjoyed by both the band and the audiences. Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference Ihe charity's work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. Paia 1.20 We are very pleased that the number of player5 has increased in the senior band again this year (especially in the woodwind sections) and both the senior and training band are continuing to thrive. In June we played at Fremington Church for a fund-raising concert for the Youth work of the church and also the Children's Hospice South West (which is based in Fremingtonl. The concert was a great success and both charities were donated just over £200.00. As the band has done for many years. we played for the Remembrance service in both Rock Park and then in the Parish church. There were many military and other organisations that were represented and our Principal Cornet player plays the Last Post and Reveille at both events so professionally and with such poise for the occasion. The band played some Carols in the Barnstaple High Street (subject to the correct licence from North Devon District Council) and this was enjoyed by shoppers and Members of the public for bringing some Christmas cheer into the town. For this occasion, festive dress and Santa hats are wornl Barnstaple Concert Band was invited to play at the Grosvenor Church Carol Concert which is always very well attended. It was a lovely festive occasion and the carols and Christmas music was wonderful and loved by all those that were at the concert.
We also did a Christmas concert in Fremington church and this was a lovely, festive evening which was very well attended by a lot of the local community. As it was Christmas and it can be a difficult time of year for many, the profit5 for this concert were donated to our local food bank and this was very gratefully received. The band has also invested in new music this year, to further enhance our repertoire of music we play. This is both good for the audience to hear a wide-ranging variety of music at concerts and also challenging and more interesting for our players. The latest music includes more modern music including that from Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. A new pull-down Banner was purchased with a new Band logo and this has been displayed at all our concerts and events. The Training band is for all abilities of playing and includes both children and adults. Various styles of music are played and enjoyed together to improve their musical standards and have the experience of playing in a band. More concerts are now being planned with other local choirs and groups for next year and we are looking forward to the future.
