## SECTION 2 

The ongoing everyday work of the charity is managed by Dee Hughes. All charity work related to the website and social media is handled by Emma scattergood. 

Dee Hughes carries out all administrative tasks, volunteer recruitment and the running and facilitation of all workshops. 

Volunteers are recruited in one of four ways: 

- Through an advertisement on the SUBU (Student Union Bournemouth University) website. 

- Through an advertisement on the AUBSU (Arts University of Bournemouth Student Union) website. 

- Through an advertisement on the CAN (Community Action Network) website. 

- Through student identification via both Dee Hughes at BU (Bournemouth University) and Christian Edwardes at AUB 9Arts University of Bournemouth). 

Trustees are recruited through word of mouth between friends and acquaintances. An attempt has been made to recruit Trustees through the CAN (Community Action Network) designated webpage. 

## SECTION 3 

Throughout the year The Story Works (TSW0 sole objective is to deliver structured story writing workshops for local children within the Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset area. Each workshop provides a guided tour of the university campus as part of the reason for basing TSW on Bournemouth University campus is so children who may otherwise never experience or understand what a university is are afforded the opportunity to experience for themselves the reality of such an environment. 

The workshops we run are either on a Saturday, which is reserved for local charity groups, and Wednesday’s, when local school groups attend. The sessions are run by the volunteers who are students at either BU or AUB although we are always looking to recruit volunteers from the local community and to achieve this, we send out advertisements through the CAN volunteers recruitment webpage. 

Presently the schedule for workshops is for either a Wednesday or Saturday session to run every other week. However, we are still in the

early stages of building the necessary connections with both local charity groups and schools so sometimes we have workshop slots that are not filled. The objective we have is the desire to build more connections with the groups we are targeting so that we are able to fill all the available sessions we offer. We are doing this through our relationship with Bournemouth University’s School’s Liaison department who have established connections with local schools as a result of the educational programmes they already run. Through our relationship with CAN we are reaching out to local charity groups in a bid to build those necessary connections. To date we have established a good relationship with two local charity groups, MyTime Young Carers and DCF (Dorset Children’s Foundation). 

To drum up further interest in our work and to seek the necessary publicity we believe is required to achieve this we have organised a visit by our recently recruited Patron, Michael Rosen. This event will we hope attract the necessary press coverage that will then lead to a wider recognition of TSW and what it is we do and offer. 

## SECTION 4 

The Story Works charitable purpose is as follows: 

_‘To advance education for the public benefit in writing and reading in all its forms by providing, in particular, but not exclusively, opportunities in storytelling and creative writing for children and young people.’_ 

To fulfil the above, we facilitate and run structured story writing workshops for children aged between 7 – 18 years of age. These creative sessions are guided by a workshop design that allows for the children to engage with their creative imagination in a supportive environment. These workshops have all been successful and in response we have been provided with glowing Testimonials from each of the group leaders who have attended our workshops. 

To gather data and a sense of the children’s response to the workshops we have produced a feedback sheet which every child completes on the conclusion of the workshop they have attended. On examination the feedback provided by the children is overwhelmingly positive. 

## SECTION 5 

The charity started with two donations: 

Donation from Bournemouth University Community Partnership Manager £300 

Donation from Mr & Mrs Dee Hughes £150

The charity has no debts and no reserves other than the present balance as quoted above. 

We are a charity that functions with the need for very little funding although there are plans in place to make applications for future funding. 

## SECTION 6 

The only funds the charity maintains are those in the charity’s bank account and as Head Trustee Dee Hughes is tasked with maintaining the account.
