To achieve the overall main activities for the Clubs Charity commitment the Club organises local events within the community and offers a full BBQ Catering Facility to assist events the Club may have organised for itself. In turn the Club offers this BBQ Catering Facility by manning it with volunteers for other organisations, such as other Local Lions Clubs, Local Council events and Local Business Association Events, such as the Annual Christmas Lights Switch On Evening in Beccles. 

Other annual fund raising events are an Easter Egg. Offering volunteers to man and assist organisations with Car Parking for their event, such as Annual Food Fair. Hevingham Country Fair. Plus Carnival Stewards. Other ongoing events for local individual’s health and wellbeing is offering the Message in a Bottle. Diabetes screening. Assist local food Bank with items, Donations and Vouchers 

The Trustees’ have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, however if should be noted that the community is still coping with the aftermath of the first lockdown. This included mandatory measures being brought in by Local Authorities restricting social activities. In addition, it has also caused changes to our ways of working with the introduction of new initiatives, new technology and new partnerships. 

Going forward the Trustees’ are planning to build on these new initiatives, technologies, partnerships and experience to evolve the programmes of activities to meet the new challenges continuing to face the community. The Club recognises that volunteering is a great way to share an individual’s enthusiasm, skills and ideas whilst having fun and meeting like-minded people. By volunteering for Beccles and District Lions Club people will be making a positive contribution to the community development locally, nationally and internationally. Volunteers are vital to

the work of the Club. 

## Section D                      Achievements and performance 

## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

## **1) Promoting Good Citizenship** 

The Club has donated towards community projects and in addition added another Defibrillator to the ones the Club already manages, bringing the total within Beccles Town a total of three. 

The Club has also been very active within the local community by supporting the local Care Homes, especially at Christmas when we visit three local Care Homes with a Choir to sing Christmas Carols for the residents to join in and the highlight being Santa with presents for each of the residents. 

In addition at Christmas we donate to the local Food Bank as well as provide gift vouchers if individuals have specific needs at this special time. 

## **2) Promoting the Voluntary Sector** 

The Club encourages volunteers because without them we could not do or achieve as much as we do within a year. One of the key areas we need volunteers is at Beccles Christmas Lights Switch On as we will use our BBQ Catering Facility and our Santa House, where Santa will stand up the chimney and wave to Parents and Children as they pass by. Also another reason we rely so much on volunteers especially for this evening is because we had to provide Stewards this year. 

## **3) Relief of Poverty** 

The Club has been very active this year with the local Food Bank with providing food as well as Gift Vouchers for those individuals with special dietary requirements. Plus we have assisted the staff at the Food Bank by handing out leaflets advising people that there is a need within the community and the public have been fantastic with their response. The Club has even donated the money to help pay for a Christmas Lunch to those individuals that would be on their own at Christmas. The Club has even ensured that individuals that are house bound received a Christmas meal as the organised home deliveries for them. 

## **4) Conservation and the Environment** 

The Club has donated to a local Primary School within the area for them to build an environmentally friendly play area, where the children can look are the conservation side of it as well as its environmental impact of the wildlife and its surrounding area. 

## **5) Healthy Recreation** 

The Club looks help with the individuals’ health wherever it can from supporting the M.I.N.D. Charity with donations to organising or helping with local fun runs or Children Fun Days they can all participate in. Each year Lions District 105CE organisers a Fun Day for local children that need help and support and as a Club we contribute to the cost for the children and their parents to go along as well. We also provide volunteers to help with the running of the day too.

Were possible we always aim to have a reserve fund where we may gain a little bit of interest, however as there has been a long period where the Banks have not been paying any interest we have decided not to have the reserve fund until such time when the banks start to pay interest again.

The Club has no accounts materially in deficit at present.

- how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity; 

The Club’s principal source of raising funds is from the General Public through their generous giving such at Christmas and specific fundraising events. We do use our BBQ Catering Facility wherever we can, which is another source of fundraising income, once all the expenses have been taken out. 

Another source of fundraising is by providing individuals to man Car Parks for other organisations events. 

   - Overall wherever we feel we can ask for a donation we will providing we have the organisers’ permission to do so. 

- The reason is quite simple because all the members then know that 

- investment policy and every penny we receive as a donation will go back into the local 

- objectives including any community to help those individuals or organisations that really do need it 

- ethical investment policy adopted.
