Radio Horton is a member of the Hospital Bro8dc8sting Association
which pmvides helpfvl advice and guidance and represents the
sector on a national level. The National Counul of Voluntary
Organisations (NCVO) also provides a wealth of training and
resources.
Radio Horton is a host org8nlsatlon withln the Oxford University
Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 8nd members of the station are
recruited subject to follo￿ng the pmtocols set out by the hospitsl
trust.

The Irust9es are responsible for overseeing the governance and
setting the strategic direction of tha organisation. All tnistees gwe
their time voluntan.ly and receive no financial gain, remuneratlon or
other benefits. Any bona ride n78mber is eligible to sland as 8
Trustee (nolwithstanding the conditions set out in the organisalion's
constitution and t)n the provlso that they would not be disqualified
from doing so by the conditions of the Ch8rity Act 2011).
Membershlp Is used as 8 means of allowing stakeholders {e.g.

The objects of the CIO are."

for hospitals, residential homes and similar instrtutions. and for

We continue with our community support at local events, providing
music and public announcements services.
In line with the strategic direction of the org8nisation, the Twstees,
have expanded our focus towards community engagement.
In 2025 Radio Horton's outside broadcast vehicle was deemed
unroadworthy. The TwsÉees' agreed to scrap this trai18r and, with
the help of generous donors, bought a new I>￿.

Ward visiting continues to be highly successfvl thanks to a very
dediGated lead volunteer and a gmwing te8m of supporting
volunteers. Requests and interest from patients and staff at the
hospital is much enhanced. Ward visiting plays a pivotal role in
Radio Horton's se￿iCe offering and allows us Éo promote health,
wellbeing & public infom7ation.
During the year we were delighted to Install fvrther WIFI radios in
various wards within the HortL)n General Hospital.
The Trustees, in making decisit)ns about our broadcasts and
direction, have had due regard to the commission's public benefit
guidance when exercising any powers or duties to which the
guidance is relevant.

Member-volunteers make a great contnbution to the (Yganisatlon.
We Guffently have approximately thity member volunteers and are
gratefvl for the many hours contributed during the year in
presenling programmes, ward visiting and many other activities
necessary to prowde a broadcasting seniice. Wrthout this valuable
contribution of time, energy and expertise we would not be able to
pmvide our serwce.

Several new volunteers joined Radio Horton dunng the reporting
period, although some are yet to begin their involvement. The
nkqjority of these volunteers are either ward vi&tors or programn
presenters.

Following the success of the initial pdio installat￿nS. and Ihanks to Ihe
support of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusl, w8
have instslled additional radios in the Horton General Hospital, which
have generated interesl from a number of deparknents, wishing to listen
to our broadcasts. We anticipate thal y￿11 give us a muth wider audience.

We are very appreciative of their supporL
Three fundraising events took place at local supemarkets during the
reporting period. The combined total raised from thes8 collections was
£1,894.
We ulilise onlln& platfomis including KindLink, the che￿11 Lottery
scheme, Easyfundraising io enable us to recelve donations online
andlor through debivcredit card.
Radio Horton provided music, entertainmènt and public address at
several events held throughout the reporting period - see section D
above. Events help the organisation to raise awareness of Radio Horton
and hospital, health and wellbeing broadcasting, bul from a social
P8rspe¢tive are also ideal for volunteers to meet one-anolher. Events
brought in £1.965 during the period and include the Rotary Club of
Banbury donation of £500, for our support at the Broughton Castle
Cycling SportiV8.
