## 3. **Accounng policies connued**

## **Income**

All income is included in the statement of financial acvies when entlement has passed to the charity, it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transacon will flow to the charity and the amount can be reliably measured. The following specific policies are applied to parcular categories of income:

- income from donaons or grants is recognised when the charity has entlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably and is not deferred.

- legacy income is recognised at the earlier of the date on which either: The charity is aware that probate has been granted, the estate has been finalised and noficaon has been made by the executor(s) to the trust that a distribuon will be made, or when a distribuon is received from the estate. Receipt of a legacy, in whole or in part, is only considered probable when the amount can be measured reliably and the charity has been nofied of the executor's intenon to make a distribuon.

- Income tax recoverable on giB aid donaons is recognised when the donaon is received.

## **Volunteers and donated services and facilies**

The value of services provided by volunteers is not incorporated into these financial statements.

Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is classified under headings of the statement of financial acvies to which it relates.

Expenditure on charitable acvies includes all costs incurred by a charity in undertaking acvies that further its charitable aims for the benefit of its beneficiaries, including those support costs and costs relang to the governance of the charity apporoned to charitable acvies.

## **Financial instruments**

A financial asset or a financial liability is recognised only when the enty becomes a party to the contractual provisions of the instrument.

The charity only has financial assets and financial liabilies of a kind that qualify as basic financial instruments which are inially recognised at the amount receivable or payable including any related transacon costs.

Current assets and current liabilies are subsequently measured at the cash or other consideraon expected to be paid or received and not discounted.
