Byker Puppet Trail A Commission from Newcastle City Council lo ¢reale a trail of 10 bespoke puppets displayed in shop windows along Shields Road in Byker. This commission was part of their 'Summer in the Square, programme, which seeks lo help redevelop Byker through creative offerings on Shields Road. We engaged lo¢al artists Georgia Hill, Chloe Rodham, Jo Feijo, Vlfilliam Steele, Calum Bru¢e and Saya Naruse to make the 10 puppets. Businesses on Shields Road Ihal were engaged.. Edinburgh Bike Company. Byker Shoe Repair. Max Spielman, Little's News, Fantasia Florist. British Heart Foundation, Rayiex Shoes. Grazin. Kilchen, AV Taylor and East End Pool. The trail was free to attend for visitors and ran for two weeks in August 2025. Cardboard Road and Autumn F&st- Another commission from Newcastle City Council as part ol their 'Summer in the Square, programme. We engaged local artist Chloe Rodham lo ¢re8le a modekvillage style replica of Shields Road, which was installed on Hadrian's Square for a weekend in August 2025. Han¢￿k lo create an inleraclive seahorse sculpture ID celebrate The Late Shows and the inlemalional puppetry and environmental project 'The Herds,. The seahorse is Newcastle's syrnbDI. as found on the ¢ity ¢resl We engaged local artist Chloe Rodham lo design and build the structure of the seahorse. In May 2025. during The Late Shows, participants attended drop-in workshops al the Museum to create macrame seahorse 's¢ales' which were then added lo the seahorse ID form ils skin. Year-round workshop delivery, performances and tralning We continue to run community and professional workshops, performances and training year-round in the North East of England. Partner organisalions this year have included Sunderland Culture, Guild of Lillians. Bishop Bewick Catholic School and Highlights Rural Touring arnongsl others. We have also taken some of our in-hoLJse puppets ID events around the UK, through Newcastle Circus Arts in Co. Durham and HOCLJS Pocus in York. We ran a two-day CPD training programme with staff al Dry WalerArts who wanted ID learn about creating parade puppets and event managing community parades. Finally. Artistic Director Kerrin Talman was invited to attend GO FIGURE Festival in Oslo, Norway. which was ftjnded by the Norwegian Embassy through Wakka Wakka Productions. This was a programming trip with our festival in mind, bul also lo create international connections that could benefit Moving Parts Arts and Newcastle Puppetry Festival. Note". Although funding has been secured and received from Scottish Power Foundation and Garfield Weston in this period for Teeny Tiny Toon 2025-2026, this project is not due lo start until September 2025, which is when this funding will start lo be spent.
