Structure
We are a charity thai manages a village hall and the activities that happen within it. We have a committee of
volunieers who meet once a month to organise and run fundraising events. These events financially support the hall
and enhance local communiti, life. We have five trustees who meet six times a year to oversee the charity and io
make sure it is achieving lis objectives.
Trustee recruitment policy
Anybody who meets the criteria of the charity commission is able to apply to become a trustee. The minimum
nuinber of trusiees is ihree. Il'the nun)ber of trustees falls below this, the remaining irustees niust call a n)eeiing and
appoint a new trustee. The maxiinum numbei of trustees is I l. The trustees must i)ot appoint a trustee if it would
Inean that the iimount of tru5tee5 would exLeed this nutnber. Every, new trustee must be dPPOlllted for a tniniinum
teTlll of 3 years. 111 Selecting individuals for appoiiitment. the Cu￿ent charity. trustees have regatd to the skills,
knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
Objectives
To raise money to maintain The Village Hall for the public benefit of the residents of Michaelston-y-fedw and the
surrounding areas.
Undenake necessary repaiTS and upgrades as fijnds allow to preserve the building for fijture generations.
To provide events, activities and enter(ainment fLI boost community morale and to enhance the mental and physical
health of the local residents in testing times.
Support local initiatives and fundraising activities that benefit the wider ¢ominunity-
Increase community participation by encouraging new groups, activities and social events that bring residents
to2ether.
To make sure The Village Hall and the community of Michaelsion-y-fedw are inclusive to everyone who wishes to
take Dan in villa&e events and activities.
To mainiain The Village Hall carpark for the use of ramblers and the local church.
To provide a safe private area for the police to run local clinics to liaise witli the residents of Michaelston-y-fedw.
To provide a space for Local Councillors to host their Ward Surgeries.
Build a modest reserve fund io ensure the long-terni susiainability and maintenance of the hall.
Celebrate aiid preserve the heritsge of the village hall as an important part of the community'5 history.
Support and encourage volunteers who contribute their time and skills to the running of the hall.
Ensure the hall is managed in accordance with charity governance and best practice.

Activities
l The CIO eventslamateur dramatics team (for the second year running} arranged for 60 local self-funded people to go
to Corfu to lake part in filming for a production of Corfu- Here we go again.. The purpose of this was to create
another film that could be show'n at the village hall io raise funds for the maintenance and running costs of the village
hall. Whilst there we did the European premiere of our original film to show the local people who helped us so much
with the production. We also held ai) award ceren)ony to recogi)ise everyone who put in such a huge effort during
this massive village project.
2 Thanks to the skill of local volunteers in creating our skittle alley, this annual event proved to be a big success again.
3 A local group of critical thinkers utilised the village hall for their monthly meetings.
4 The hall provided rehearsal space for the local young larn)ers gtOUP to rehearse for their annual production.
5 A quiz aiid cury night was put on by a committee member. Curries were made and donated by local residents.
6 A nUTnber of private events H'ere hosted in the newly re￿rbiSh£d hall including children's birthday parties,
christenin£s, weddings, ￿lleralS and thanksgiving.
7 A local group used the hall for their band practi¢e and went on to do a perfoTman¢e raising money for Parkinson's
disease.
8 The hall space was donated to a local yoga tsacher to encourage Ihe local community to take pan in sessions to
improve their physical health.
9 The space was made available for a young lady from the communitv to teach line dancing classes as part of her gold
Duke of Edinburgh award.
io The CIO events team aTranged their annual Christmas crafting event for adults and children. A local resident brought
his hoTnemade sleigh through the village pulling Father Christmas and his elves, bearing gifts for the children who
attended the event. This has become an annual event M'hich is xoin£ from stren2th to stren£th.
I l The hall is n)ade available for a local resident to use (he hall for her annual wreaih making class. She charges for this
class and ii) retum purehases the Christmas presents for the children during the Christmas Crafts event.
12 A member of the community put on a Tnusical IJTiC quiz to ra15e money for the hall. The CIO liaised with dominos
pizza w."ho kindly donated pizzas for all the attendees during the evening. A great time was had by the organisers and
the community members who took part.
13 The village hall supported the church by hosting events fre¢ of charge and donating the bar profit to the church.
14 The hall was made available for a local dance group to practise for their perfomlances.
15 The village hall was used as a polling station and is used by the council for their local ward surgeries. The
community council is also held there by the local volunteer councillors whLI work hard to look after our village.
16 The CIO hosted a rugby and curry afternoon on their big screen that was donated by a kind benefactor. This proved
to be a lan(astic village event.
17 The CIO rented the hall out as a gieeii room to a major Hollvwood pr(xluction company. We made a great profit for
the hall as well a5 creating a fantastic buzz the community.
18 Tlie 80 year anniversary of VE day was celebrated on May 8th. We provided a hog roast for attendees, had some
fascinatin£ talks from local residents who remembered VE day and lit the beacon to commemorate the occasioii.

19 As an extension of our VE celebrations. we arranged for a bus to take local residents for a day ai the seaside, 1945
style. Whilst there we did aciivities related 10 1945 and had fish and chips wrapped in newspaper created by our
local historv 2rouD With fascii)ating local news from 1945. A wondertul dav ￿'aS had bv all.
Aehievements
l One of our main objectives is to make sure the activities we undertake are inclusive to everyone and that the hall is
for public benefit. Our Committee and Trustees work tirelessly to ensure that this is possible for the local
community. In order to make sure we achieve this we put on events and shows to raise money for the running costs.
In this annual report period we created our major production 'Corfu- Here we go again, which n)ade a profit of over
£JOOO. This allowed us to keep hosting our local con)munity volunteer groups free of charge. This also helped us to
do sonie essential maintenance and up¥iade5 to the Iiall. Tl)is iiicluded erecting scaffolding itnd painting tlie hall
inside and out.
2 The performance standards of the community improved hugely due to their increased involvement in the CIO
arna￿ur drainatics society. This body is run by a group of people who volunteer lots of iheir lime to improve the
talei)t and well beii)g of tl)e residet)ts of Michaelston-y-fedw.. 'Corfu- Here we go again, proved to be a huge
conimunity bonding experience. Tl)e awards ceretnonj. in Corfu was a great eveiit to reward the hard work of the
community and it was clear to see that the confidence and self esteem of the cast was b005ted by thi5 experience.
3 Due to the fund raising efforts of the Trustees, Committee and a team of commitied local volunteers. we were able to
host a variety of local groups free of charge 10 ensure that we were inclusive to the eniire communi￿. regardless of
rinancial n)eans. These groups include, Yoga. Critical thinking, the Local Band. Bell ringii)g, dance group, History
group and Young Farniers We were alsts able to help the chuich b), hosting various events iii¢luding Shiove Tuesday
Luiich, Ali Evening of Glamour aiid Sparkle {Second year running) and Harvest Diniier to raise nioney for them free
of charge.
4 A inember of the committee raised money for the hall by hosting his annual Quiz and Curry event. This event
brou£ht t0￿ether 65 local residents for a evellin￿ and brouRht in over £1,300.
5 The annual Christmas crafting event was made possible as a resuli of all the fiJndr8ising efforts throughout the year.
This is an event thai brings together the local community including all of the children M,ho were delighted with the
arrival on a sleigh of a local resident bearing gifts. This is an achievemeni thanks to the hard work of the CIO and
the people who volunieer to keep it running. It also raises money for the teenage cancer charity 'Latch'.
6 The Village hall obiained an alcohol licence to support the increasing volume of events being hosted ai the hall. In
accordance wilh the license the cctv CLivera2e was imDroved around Ihe bar area and Liuiside the hall.
7 Our VE Day celebration was a highlighi of the year and demOnStra￿d the important role The Village Hall pla}'s in
bringing the con)munity together. The event provided ai) opporiuniij, lor residents io gather, share stories, and
celebrate an in)portant moinent in history. It was wondeilul to see such a wide cross-section of tl)e commui)it)'
enjoyit)g the events, Strengthening local connection5 and fostering a renewed sense of ton)munity pride and spirit.

account summarizing all the money received and paid out by the charitv in the financial period
