Report on 2024-2025 activity
We were delighted to have been awarded full Accreditation with Arts Council England. Volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes, On average volunteer hours are averaging 450 a month. We have received a couple of enquiries regarding Volunteering. Visitor numbers for October to March 2025 – 1,645 (the Museum was closed to visitors in January)
Collection Care and Conservation
The items stored in the new plastic storage boxes have now been assessed and cleaned and put in to store 5 which is now very well organised. We are currently mopping up stray finds from the move from Church Lane to Park Street. Volunteers are continuing their work on the model railway and are making good progress. The modular display booths with the flexibility of a peg board system are under construction. The Barn is due to be assessed for its condition as it is still stored under a tarpaulin, it will be relocated to tidy up the outside courtyard. Work has begun to clear the backlog of newly donated items that need accessioning into the collection. The stores are being reassessed to ensure boxes are correctly numbered etc. Planning for the trades display is well underway. There will be modular display booths with the flexibility of a peg board system to enable a programme of changing displays. A 16mm cine film of the WI pageant of the Fens 1955 has been digitised by the East Anglian Film Archive in Norwich and they now have the original film for safe keeping in their film archive. The new small shed Store 7 is now being insulated and lined and will store large bulky non sensitive items.

This created a lot of interest on social media and was featured on Radio Cambridgeshire.
Children's Activities .
We held a successful puppet making day in February half term.
Social Media
Our website is now up and running but due to its complicated structure we are going to move from our present host -Krystal to Word Press.
Grant Projects
The Gypsy Roma Traveller project from AIM has now been completed.
We received £250 from Court Leet which will go towards revamping our loans boxes, the will include memory boxes to be used by care homes and dementia groups.
Currently the application for a grant for an infill building is on hold to enable the volunteers to complete existing and necessary work this year.
Visits and talks
We had a visit from a family in Birmingham exploring their family history of the Skeels family, Andrew drove them round to see various locations in the town where their ancestors lived.
