**It is with great joy and gratitude that I write this foreword, reflecting upon the remarkable journey of As-Siraj Trust over the past year. As the founder of this organization, I am humbled and honored to witness the profound impact we have made together in the lives of countless individuals across the globe.**
**The year 2022-2023 stands as a testament to the power of collective compassion and the unwavering commitment of our lovely donors. With your generous support, As-Siraj Trust has been able to conduct transformative projects in various countries, reaching out to those in dire need and offering them a glimmer of hope amidst their darkest hours.**
**Throughout the year, our efforts extended to nations far and wide. From the United Kingdom to Pakistan, and from Jordan to many other corners of the world, we diligently worked to alleviate the suffering of diverse communities. The challenges we faced were manifold, but our resolve remained unyielding.**
**Our initiatives catered to a wide range of individuals affected by unfortunate circumstances. We extended our hands to refugees, offering them solace, dignity, and the promise of a better tomorrow. We stood by the side of flood victims, providing them with immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation. We worked tirelessly to support countless others, including the impoverished, the orphaned, and the marginalized.**
**None of these achievements would have been possible without your invaluable support. Your contributions, both big and small, have played an integral role in empowering us to make a lasting difference in the lives of those who needed it most. Your selflessness has lit the path of countless individuals, enabling them to rise above their adversities and embrace a future filled with possibilities.**

## STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
## **Board of Trustees**
The Board of Trustees sets our future aims and priorities focusing on strategic planning and governance and also evaluates our performance and progress in our work to alleviate poverty and suffering.
The Board of Trustees appraises the Senior Management Team and can make appointments to it as well as dismissals. The Board of Trustees also make sure that we satisfy the regulatory requirements on us as a charity and works with key stakeholders.
## **Recruiting and Appointing Trustees**
The charity's Board of Trustees comprises volunteers who possess a diverse range of skills, knowledge, and experience that enable the charity to tackle the challenges of the present. The selection of trustees is based on the skills and expertise required to achieve the charity's goals.
## **Governing document**
As-Siraj Trust (previously known as As-Siraj) refers to the charity incorporated organisation with a governing document known as CIO - foundation originally incorporated on 07 April 2021 as amended on 26 Mar 2022 as amended on 29 Mar 2022.
## **Responsibilities of Trustees**
The charity's annual report and financial statements are prepared in accordance with relevant laws and regulations and are approved by the Board of Trustees.
The trustees maintain sufficient accounting records that accurately record and explain the charity's transactions. These records provide a reasonable assessment of the charity's financial position at any time, allowing the trustees to ensure compliance with the Charity Commission's Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) 2015.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for ensuring that the financial statements accurately reflect the charity's financial performance and position during the reporting period. The trustees regularly review the records to ensure that the financial statements comply with all legal requirements and standards. The Board of Trustees also ensures that the financial statements provide a clear and accurate picture of the charity's operations, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions about the charity's activities.
## **Grant Making Policies**
We provide grants to projects if the request meets our charitable objectives and criteria. Project grant making is managed according to a designated process, which is documented in our Operational Risk-Management Framework. We aim to treat all grant applications professionally, equally and fairly. We make the final decision as to eligibility to receive a grant, at our discretion.
## **Public Benefit**
We develop strategic plans to make certain that we provide maximum public benefit and achieve our strategic objectives, which fall under purposes defined by the Charity Act 2006.
## **OBJECTIVES AND STRATEGIC ACTIVITIES FOR THE BENEFIT**
## **The objects of the charity are set below:**
**A. To advance the religion of Islam in the UK and overseas, for the benefit of the public, through the holding of prayer meetings, organising lectures to educate them and through distributing literature on Islamic teachings to enlighten others about these teachings while helping them with their interpretation.**
**B. The prevention and relief of financial hardship & sickness among those suffering from the consequences of natural disasters, wars, economic & social deprivation, or other unfortunate accidents in the world, especially in developing countries through the provision of monetary aid, medicines, food, clothing as well as shelter in coordination.**
**C. To advance in life and help young people in the UK and abroad who have need by reason of their youth or social and economic circumstances, through the provision of recreational and educational activities, provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life as well as by providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities, and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature, responsible, and independent individuals.**
## **The charity carried a number of activates in the year 2022 such as:**

- 3.Trip to Rhyl Beach
- 4.Pakistan Floods
- 5.Turkey Earthquakes
- 6.Ramadan Project 2022
- 7.Water Pump Project
- 8.Build a Orphanage Pakistan

**As-Siraj Trust was able to provide support for those living in the UK and abroad in countries such as Jordan & Pakistan. We provided food parcels, water, clothes and fun days for those who are in need of aid. This helped us provide help to over 2,500 individuals in UK, Jordan & Pakistan.**
**This was all possible with the support of our generous donors who contributed towards this cause.**
## **Financial Review**
**The charity received £34,834 in donations from multiple sources during the reporting period. The charity does not currently have a reserve policy. As per the balance sheet, there are no funds in deficit, and the charity has a surplus of £3,645.**

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT FOR THE PERIOD 07 APR 2022 TO 06 APR 2023 TO THE TRUSTEES**
I report on the accounts for the period 07th April 2022 to 06th Apr 2023 set out below.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The charity’s trustees responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for the period (under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is required.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:
- Examine the accounts
- Follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under Section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act); and
- To state weather particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of the independent examiner’s report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

(1) Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements have not been met;
