About the Betty Ennis Foundation
Our Mis$ion and Vislon
The Betty Enni5 Foundation is a grassroots charity based in Coventry, UK. dedicated to
alleviating hardship and poverty within our community. We strive to provlde essential
support and resources to individuals and families facing financial difficulties, fostering a
compassionate and thriving community where everyone can reach their full potential.
Challen8es We Face
Despite our commitment to serving the Coventry communlty, we are currently struggling
with increasing overhead costs. As 3 non-profit organisation, managing rising expenses such
as rent, utilities, and operational costs has become a significant challenge. These financial
pressures threaten our ability to maintain the breadth and quallty of the servi￿5 we provide
to those Sn need.
Building Valuable Relationships
In response to these challenges, we have worked tirelessly to estsblish valuable relationships
with local businesses and communSty group5. Through these partnerships. we have been
able to secure donations of goods and service5, which we then offer at no cost to the
individuals and families we support. This collaborative approach has been instrumental in
5U5taining our operations and maximizing our impact desplte financial constraints.
Our Charfty Shop Model
One of the cornerstones of our foundation is our charity shop, which operates on a model
that refletts our deep understsnding of the community we serve. We price our items in line
with what is affordable for our community members, rather than their market value. This
ensures that everyone has access to necessary goods, regardless of their financial situation.
The shop not only provide5 affordable items but also serves as a community multi-hub
where people can find support and a sense of belonging, use our pet and human food bank,
help us understand their needs and put In place plans for help.
Relnventin8 Profits for Greater Go¢)d
Any profits generated from our charity shop are reinvested into our mission. These funds are
used to carry out critical work and lind items for those in need. Whether it's finding
emergency relief for families like gas and elettric top-ups, food parcels, garden work or
furniture we have never strayed from the mission of helping whoever we can, however we
Can. However, with our lack offunds we haven't been able to invest in our community as
much as we would have liked to, We have instead used our resources to make valuable
relationships with other organisations 50 we can be the middleman between need and help.
Our volunteers have used their wealth of skills to re-do gardens, move people from
temporary accommodation, give valuable advice, decorate and refurnish homes. With the

power of our little community, we have been able to spread the kindness as did our
namesake.
Our Impact
Through our dedicated efforts and strategic partnerships, we have been able to make a
meaningful difference in the lives of many Coventry residents. Our initiatives have provided
not only material assistance but also hope and empowerment to those who need it most. By
working together with local businesses, volunteers. and community members, we continue
to strive towards a future where no one in Coventry must face hardship or poverty alone.
For the future
The Trustees h8ve expressed concern regardingour reserves not meetlngthe
anticlpated levels. To address this, we plan to increase our grant applications to support
core costs. Additionally. we aim to enhance our community Outreach efforts to identify
furtherwaysto assistthe community. which will also position us to secure grantfunding
for these initiatives.

Independent examiner’s report on the accounts for the Betty Ennis Foundation 

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts for the period  17 July 2022 to 18 July 23 

As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 (the Act). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under S145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable directions given by the Charity Commission unders145(5)(b) of the Act. 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me concern to believe that in any material respect; 

accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or the accounts do not accord with accounting records. 

I have no concerns and have come across no matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
