Structure, Governance & Management
Type of Governing Document
Constitution – based on the Charity Commission’s model governing document for Charitable Incorporated Organisations.
Objects
As defined in the Paisajes Piano Festival Sierra de Gata Constitution (Governing Document) our objects are:
- for the public benefit, to promote the art of piano music, in particular but not exclusively, classical piano music through the means of a music festival delivering professional music performances.
From 26 November 2024 our objects, as approved by the Commission, are:
- for the public benefit, to promote the art of piano music, in particular but not exclusively, classical piano music through the means of a festival delivering professional music performances.
Trustee Selection Methods
Trustees are appointed or re-appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. There must be at least three trustees and no more than 12.
In appointing Trustees due consideration is given to ensuring that the Trustees have the personal qualities and, between them, the skillset necessary to manage the charity effectively and in accordance with charity law.

Activities
Statutory Declaration
The Trustees confirm that they have paid due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit in deciding what activities the charity should undertake.
Achievements & Performance
Outputs and Outcomes
Key outputs
The Charity was unable to stage a festival in 2024 because the festival site in Sierra de Gata was unavailable and there was no affordable alternative. There is no guarantee that the site will be available in any particular year and so the Trustees sought and obtained the Commission's approval to change our objects to staging a festival as and when possible.
In July the Artistic Director together with an internationally known cellist gave a free concert in Hoyos, Sierra de Garta to publicise the next Festival in 2025. He also supported a Masterclass for gifted children in London. By providing the catering he secured the offer of places to children who could not afford the fee, promoted the Festival, and sought funding.
Key outcomes
The Charity's activities were confined to publicising the next Festival and fundraising. A substantial personal donation was received.
How the Public Have Benefitted.
The public enjoyed a free concert of international quality in Sierra de Gata. Gifted children in London without the means to pay were able to attend a piano masterclass without charge.
Trustee Development
Trustees are encouraged to participate in development opportunities as and when appropriate. They have developed a Code of Governance and Responsibility by adopting the seven principles set out in the Code published by The Charity Governance Code Steering Group.
Financial Review
Details of Any Funds Materially in Deficit
The Charity has no funds which are materially in deficit.

Policy on Reserves
Our policy on reserves is to generate and maintain a balance which is sufficient:
-
to preserve the financial viability of the Charity in the event that unforeseen and/or unavoidable circumstances precipitate a short-term fall in its income;
-
to enable the Charity to set up new projects on a pilot basis to demonstrate the viability and potential benefits of such activities as a precursor to securing the necessary funding to maintain them on an on-going basis.
For these purposes we will endeavour to generate and maintain reserves which are at least 10% of total annual income.
Principal Sources of Funding and Outgoings
The £5,000 raised was donated by a private Festival sponsor.
Of the £487 total outgoings, £366 was to support places at a masterclass for underpriviledged children and £100 was for musician's travel.
Remuneration of Trustees
All Trustees act in a voluntary capacity and receive no remuneration or other material benefits from their services to the Charity. Simone Tavoni, Trustee and Artistic Director, performed a publicity concert in Hoyos, Spain without a fee but was re-imbursed a proportion of his travelling costs.
The Trustees met all their own travelling and accommodation costs in attending Trustee meetings and all other expenses arising from their services to the Charity.
Financial Status
Our current balance of £7,605 provides more than adequate pump-priming and a sound financial base for the next edition of the Festival in 2025.
Statutory Statements on Liabilities
The Trustees declare that:
-
The charity has given no guarantees where potential liability under the guarantee is outstanding at the date of this statement;
-
The charity has no debt outstanding at the date of this statement which is owed by the CIO and which is secured by an express charge on any assets of the CIO.
Approved by the Trustees and signed on their behalf,
