The Iruslees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended
31 March 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities-.
Statement of RecomtrEnded Praclice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordan￿ with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of I￿land IFRS 1021 (effective 1 January
20191.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
Earthsong works to bring about impactful transf0m￿tiOn in three main areas= music educalK)n. herbal
med￿lne, and environmental regeneration.
We lake a strategic approach lo granl-making and do not respond lo unsolicited applications. Instead we
build long term relationships and work closely with organisalions that ali9n with our values and demonstrate
public benefit.
Significant activities
Some of the Projects we have supported in the layl year are..
Herba Medicine
Through running the website Herb81 Reality www.herbalreality.com we share Iradilional. scientific, and
practical insights into he￿31 mediryne. Herfoal Reality is an educatr'onal p1atfom using an active websi(e.
podcasts. newsletters and social media lo share resources and accurate informalK)n about using herbs safely
for health. Data shows a good increase in Ihe numbers of people &¢essing the platfomi and we have had
much positive feedback and appreciation lor the resource.
Continuing our Commitment lo Herbal educali(K we offe¥ supported bursaries for study al UK herbal
medicine colleges. Betonica and HeartwocKI.
Music Education
The Earthsong Programme is a major education programme based at the Bristol Beacon COn￿rt hall which
we have supported for 5 years. sin￿ September 2019 we have worked intensively with over 30￿ young
people across 13 primary %hools in Bristol.
By engaging children across every year of primary school life we work long temi and in depth lo support
hools lo Iransfomi their relalK)nship with MUS￿ so that a sch¢x)I's musical identity and the power of music
are central lo who they are. The Earthsong Programme is referenced in the 2022 Nation Plan for Music
Education and In February 2024, was shortliSt￿ for a National Musi¢ and Drama Award for Outstanding
Musical Inib"alive. We wll share and advocate the learning of the Earthsong Programme local￿, regionalty and
nationally.
We 8130 5UPPOrt a Bristol Pre School with a 3 year Musician in Residence programme as well as a local
theat￿ org8nis81ion working in school settiros and the Bristol Jazz festival.
Environment
We have long temi relationships wtih natsonal organisalions such as The Soil Association. Pesticide Action
Ne￿Ork and Client Earth and support their work in Food systems Iransfomi81ion. Nabjre protection and
environmental legisL41ion.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Finawjcial position
The charity ¢ommen¢ed granl-making from April 2022.
Both grants made and spending on the Herbal Realty website increased on the prior year. but donations
received exceeded this so the charity maintains a strong reserves position.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
The Iruslees will only award grants up to the value of the funds already held by the charity and do not expect
to need to hold signfficanl reserves. The trust will hold a reserve of £5,000, to cover unforeseen adminislralive
costs.
FUTURE PLANS
We will wntinue to prioritize grant making lo UK based charities in the areas of music education.
environmental conservation and regeneration and hèrbal medicine research and infomiation via the websrte
Herbal Reality. We have strong relationships wi(h our grantees and our intention is wherever appropriate to
build longer temi relationships with the beneficiaiies of our larger grants.

I report lo the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Earthsong Foundation Ilhe Trusll for
the year ended 31 March 2024.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you ale responsible lor the preparation of the accounts in accordance wi(h
the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'Ihe Act'i.
I report in respect of my examination of the Trusvs accounts carried out under Section 145 of the Ad and in
carrying out my examination I have followed all applica)le Directions given by the Charity Commission under
Section 14515llb} of the Act.
Indepèndent examinerfs statement
Since your charty's gross income exceeded £250.000 your examiner musl be a member of a listed body. I
can confirm that l am qualified to undertake the examination because l am a member ol the Institute of
Chartered Accountants in England and Vvales, which is one ol the listed bodies.
I have completed my examination. I confimi that no material matters have come lo my attention in Connection
with the examination giving me cause lo believe that in any material re5pect-
accounting re¢￿d$ were not kept in respect of the Trust as ￿qUI￿d by Section 130 of the Act,. or
the accounts do not ¥cord with those records., or
the accounts do not ¢omply with the apPI￿able iequiremenls Con￿rning the forni and content of
accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any wuiremenl
that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent
examination.

ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basls of preparing the financial statements
The financial slatemenls of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been
prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 Accounting and Reporting by Chari(ies.'
Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their accounts in accordan
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102}
leffeclive 1 January 20191,, Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland. and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have
been prepared under the hisluical ca51 convention. with the ex¢eplton of investments which are
included at market value.
Income
All income is recognised in the Statement ol Financial Activities once the charity has entillemenl to the
funds, it is probable that the income will be receThied and the amount can be measured reliably.
Expenditu
Liabilities are rewgnised as e)pendf(ure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation
committing the charity lo that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be
required in settlement and the amourit ol the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is
accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost
related to the category. Where costs cannot be diredly attributed lo particular headings they have been
allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.
Grants offered subject to conditions which have not been mel at the year end date are noted a5 a
commitment but not 2Lcrued as expendf(ure.
Taxation
The charity is exempt from tax on its ¢harilable activities.
Fund accounting
Unrestrided funds can be Ltsed in accordance wf(h the charitable objectives 81 the discretion of the
Iruslees.
Restricted ftjnds can only be used for particular restricted putposes within the objects of the charity.
Restrictions arise when speCif￿d by the donor or when fLJnds are raised for particular restricted
purposes.
