Our Aims.
To sustain a dynamic organisation committed to delivering an exceptional service for patients, staff, and visitors across the hospitals within Morecambe Bay, Blackpool, and the Fylde Coast.
Our aims for 2022/2023 were:

1: To be financially self-sufficient.

2: To involve our service users (patients, staff & visitors).

3: To be a good organisation to volunteer for.

4: To work in partnership with the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and Blackpool Teaching Hospital Trust.

5: To increase the number of volunteers.

6: To increase availability of our services.
We have met these aims by:

1: Being financially self-sufficient.

2: Engaging with the patients the best we could since Covid-19

3: Looking after our volunteers giving advice during the year.

4: We have worked closely with the hospital trusts.

5: We have increased the number of volunteers.

6: Increased our listener base over the period by introducing a new app.
Our aims for 2023/2024 are to:
- 1: Continue to be financially self-sufficient and end the financial year in a stronger position.
2: Run an active recruitment campaign to increase the number of volunteers by 25%.

3: Increase the number of fundraising events and seek new funding sources.

4: Increase program sponsors by 25%

5: Continue to work in partnership with the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and Blackpool Teaching Hospital Trust, building on an already excellent relationship.

6: Increase the number of live outside broadcasts.

7: Increase the number of live broadcastings.

8: Increase the number of live interviews to bring more enjoyment to the listeners.
9: Visiting the wards at WGH (Westmorland General Hospital), RLI (Royal Lancaster Infirmary) and BVH (Blackpool Victoria Hospital) now Covid-19 restrictions are over and increase awareness of our service.
10: Open new studios at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
11: Making sure our broadcasting infrastructure is kept up to date.

Many thanks to all the volunteers for the time that you have given up helping our radio station continue broadcasting.
This is our 45th annual report and as a charity 2022/23 was an unbelievable year with the after effects of the Covid-19 pandemic we had to change the way we operated our charity in covering our operating costs during the financial year.
A lot of challenging work has been going on behind the scenes during 2022/2023 here are the projects:

1: Applying for grants

2: Keeping the radio station on air and financially stable.

3: Remote broadcasting from volunteers' homes which has been a fantastic addition to the service that we offer to our volunteers.

4: Raising the operating costs to cover our operating costs.

5: Sourcing an area to place a new studio in Lancaster RLI (This is an ongoing project).

6: Replacement premises at Blackpool Victoria Hospital (This is an ongoing project).
It was somewhat a challenging year to make sure that we could continue as a charity but with sheer arduous work we did achieve it.
Being chosen as the charity of the year by The Station Inn at Oxenholme is a fantastic acknowledgment of our station's value to the community.
Collaborating with them on events to raise funds not only provides financial support but also strengthens community ties.

We have had an excellent year in obtaining grants of £3,050.00 and Donations of £2,618.00. Sponsorship was £2,195.00.
We take pride in maintaining adherence to our budgets for 2022/2023. As a charity, we consistently ensure that our accounts are scrutinised monthly to stay within our budgetary constraints for the year.

Despite having a successful fundraising year, it is imperative that we maintain our efforts throughout 2023/2024.
If each member engages in fundraising activities, generating approximately £100.00 individually over the course of the year, it will significantly contribute to covering our operating costs.

Another year draws to a close and I would like to say thank you to all volunteers for their hard work and continued service to Bay Trust Radio. It’s amazing how many hours of great programmes are produced and presented every day as a result of that hard work and passion.
Technical infrastructure is now in the best place for the future, with more upgrades and options available to progress further into the new year. More music is sent to us directly for consideration, increasing variety and reducing cost. The work of adding Bay Trust Radio to Freeview (via UK Radio Portal) and the new app for iOS and Android have promoted further digital listening on other platforms since leaving DAB.
I am immensely proud to have been part of the team which has guided the charity over the last decade. I send my best wishes to the Trustees and new Executive Committee as they look to the future of Bay Trust Radio.

In my opening paragraph last year, I stated that it had been a challenging year for everyone trying to find the new norm after the pandemic, and this year seems to be no different. 2022/2023 saw the cost-of-living crisis hit us, bringing with it a whole new string of problems. Costs rising and everyone’s disposable income disappearing.
I am once again extremely proud of our station and volunteers for showing resilience and tackling every obstacle we come across. Without our volunteers our station would not be what it is today, and I just want to say a massive heartfelt thank you. We have been blessed this year, having been supported by The Station Inn and I hope that we can continue working together in the future.
A special thank you goes to John Williamson and our Committee for their continued hard work, and I look forward to seeing what the coming year will hold, and hope that we continue going from strength to strength.

It has been a challenging year for the station, but we have kept our heads high and worked hard throughout.
The corona virus pandemic has changed the way we've operated as a station as well as bringing us new opportunities.
Despite these obstacles we've thrived as a station bringing in new volunteers and doing fundraising events throughout the year.
We have a lot to look forward to next year and the whole team should be very proud of themselves.
