SWAIL HOUSE ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL REPORT 2023/2024
The annual general meeting took place on Sunday 12[th] May 2024.
CHAIRMANS REPORT
The last year has been relatively quiet in terms of events but the charity is ticking along nicely. We held a series of walks during April, May and June 2023 with the Epson ramblers and the Sutton ramblers. In August 2023 we linked up with another charity to visit Buckingham Palace for the day. In December 2023 we arranged a quiz night with loads of donated prizes which went well.
The charitys work is funded by the fundraising done throughout the year. We held six collections in Epson. We had a £500 grant from the Local Giving charity through their Magic Little Grants scheme. We had two individual donations, one which was sent anonymously.
I would like to mention that the charity played a key part in getting better signs put up around Swail House so parcel and food deliveries are more likely to get to their destination flat or at least via reception. We have been campaigning to stop food delivery riders parking in Epson High Street and a number of people are now involved including Surrey County Council, Surrey Parking Enforcement and local councillors.
Plans for this next financial year include arranging a music afternoon or evening as the charity has paid for the grand piano in Bradbury Lodge to be retuned and repaired. We have a brilliant local musician who plays the piano and sings and I have messaged some people at Swail house who are musicians to see if they want to get involved in the event. We plan to hold further quiz nights and plan to be involved in an
event taking place in Roseberry Park being organised by the Rotary Club as it is their 100 year anniversary.
We have registered with the Fundraising Regulation Board so we can arrange fundraising collections at mainline stations like Waterloo and Liverpool Street as they are far more lucrative. Election of Officers
Russell Bailey was elected as Chairman and Treasurer. Tracey Goulding was elected as Secretary. Anyone wishing to become a trustee must have two people to nominate them to be elected.
