SWAIL HOUSE ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL REPORT 2022/2023

CHAIRMANS REPORT

The annual general meeting took place on Saturday 6th May 2023. Since being registered with the Charity Commission on 27[th] March 2021 the trustees and members were optimistic for the work of the charity gaining momentum and building on the work done in the first year. The current charity officers were reelected for 2023/2024. The second year has been more about continuing with the activities already established and looking at other options for activities which may interest visually impaired people. In the second year we held two quiz nights and one Christmas social which went well with the help of our volunteers. Our volunteer who looked after the website had to step down in July 2022 but we managed to get a new volunteer to take over the role in September 2022 and improve the website and create a facebook page. We continue to be supported by our volunteers and been able to recruit new volunteers to assist us. The charity held seven fundraising collections in various locations, mainly in Epsom and were in receipt of a number of individual donations through other fundraising streams like facebook, paypal and the Wonderful Foundation.

Our current activities include ten pin bowling, tandem cycling and social events. We have started to link with local rambling groups to provide volunteer assisted walks in the countys countryside and we hope to encourage more participation in this activity. Our third year in operation looks promising and will put further efforts in to increase membership and our financial position.
