The club is part of Lions Clubs International which has in excess of 1.4 You may choose to include million members across over 200 countries. Within the structure of our additional information, where CIO we have a branch club known as Swaffham Lioness Lions Branch relevant, about: Club. It has its own officers one of whom is a member of the parent Lions Club and acts as liaison between the branch and the main club.

4) The relief of poverty and the relief of those in need in particular by providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief. 5) The advancement of health or the saving of lives by preventing avoidable blindness, assisting disabled people to lead independent lives or helping to prevent or manage health issues. 6) Promoting for the benefit of the public the conservation protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment 7) Promoting community participation in healthy recreation. 1) Citizenship: We have sponsored local student who will be attending World Scout Jamboree during 2024. We have made donations to various schools•and•youth•organisations•through•our•“Lion’s•Den”•event•which•we hope will now be an annual event depending on money raised during the year. 2) We have continued to enjoy good relationship with local authorities, other agencies including the Iceni Partnership and other charitable organisations. 3) Promoting Volunteering: The club has promoted volunteering at fundraising events and also by holding a promotional/information morning on Swaffham Market Place in March 2025. 4) Relief of Poverty: The club continues to be heavily involved with the work of Mid Norfolk Foodbank. Every Monday, members of our club transport donations of food from local supermarkets and churches from Swaffham to Dereham for sorting returning with boxes of food for singles, couple and families for distribution by the staff at the Mid Norfolk Foodbank outlet in Swaffham to those in need in the town and the surrounding villages. We have also been involved with In store collections for the Mid Norfolk Foodbank at our local Tesco Branch. Both our Lions and Lioness Ladies organised fundraising events for the Children In Need Appeal raising £400 between them. Various amounts were raised by quiz nights with the money raised being donated to various good causes. 5) Advancement•of•Health:•Lions•“Message•in•a•Bottle”•has•been promoted at various events and again we have organised events to publicise Diabetes and Sight Issues. We have continued to collect used spectacles from local surgeries and opticians with around 3000 pairs being delivered by us to the Lions Club HQ in Birmingham for grading and sorting for eventual use in Third World Countries. We have also supported Macmillan, with a coffee morning and donation. 6) Environment – We have been involved with litter collections during the year. 7) Promoting Community Participation in healthy recreation: We organised Pancake Day races for the local Primary and Junior Schools in our town on Shrove Tuesday.

Achievements and performance

Over 3000 pairs of spectacles collected from local surgeries plus Litcham surgery, opticians and local Tesco forwarded to Birmingham Lions for sorting and transmission to a French company where they are graded and forwarded to Third World Countries.

Approximately £950 raised by raffling off Easter Eggs in local pubs and clubs – 25 eggs in all were raffled.

We held our annual Xmas Collections at our local Tesco and Waitrose raising £1650 for Lions Charities, part of this went to funding the annual pensioners Christmas lunch - where over 100 individuals were fed a full Christmas dinner with light entertainment of bingo and carol singing in the afternoon – held with the support of our local high school The Nicholas Hammond Academy.
