The club is part of Lions Clubs International which has in excess of 1.4 You may choose to include million members across over 200 countries. Within the structure of our additional information, where CIO we have a branch club known as Swaffham Lioness Lions Branch relevant, about: Club. It has its own officers one of whom is a member of the parent Lions Club and acts as liaison between the branch and the main club.

The objects of the club are such purposes as are exclusively charitable in England & Wales, including in particular: 1) The advancement of citizenship 2) Promoting the voluntary sector for the public benefit by associating with local authorities in a common effort to advance education and provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation to improve the conditions of life of people in local, national and international communities. 3) Promoting volunteering

4) The relief of poverty and the relief of those in need in particular by providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief. 5) The advancement of health or the saving of lives by preventing avoidable blindness, assisting disabled people to lead independent lives or helping to prevent or manage health issues. 6) Promoting for the benefit of the public the conservation protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment 7) Promoting community participation in healthy recreation. 1) Citizenship: We have sponsored local student who will be attending World Scout Jamboree during 2023. We also helped to get a new playgroup off the ground at a local church by donating towards the purchase of equipment and also helped a local family raising monies for a life changing operation for their son the cost of which could not be funded by the NHS. On behalf of the Wayland Show Committee, we manned the pay booths for its annual show, also promoting “Guardian Angel” wrist bands to parents attending with young children. 2) We have continued to enjoy good relationship with local authorities, other agencies including the Iceni Partnership and other charitable organisations. We worked with Meadow House with their fundraising and were able to donate £500 to them and in particular their wonderful work with MS patients. 3) Promoting Volunteering: The club has promoted volunteering at fundraising events and also by holding a promotional/information morning on Swaffham Market Place in November 2023 and May 2024 4) Relief of Poverty: The club continues to be heavily involved with the work of Mid Norfolk Foodbank. Every Monday, members of our club transport donations of food from local supermarkets and churches from Swaffham to Dereham for sorting returning with boxes of food for singles, couple and families for distribution by the staff at the Mid Norfolk Foodbank outlet in Swaffham to those in need in the town and the surrounding villages. We have also been involved with In store collections for the Mid Norfolk Foodbank at our local Tesco Branch. Both our Lions and Lioness Ladies organised fundraising events for the Children In Need Appeal raising £668 between them. £400 was also raised by a quiz night plus a collection of new born equipment was made to “ Baby Basics” a local venture supporting new mothers of all ages in the area in need with starter packs 5) Advancement of Health: Lions “Message in a Bottle” has been promoted at various events and again we have organised events to publicise Diabetes and Sight Issues. We have continued to collect used spectacles from local surgeries and opticians with around 2500 pairs being delivered by us to the Lions Club HQ in Birmingham for grading and sorting for eventual use in Third World Countries. We have also supported Macmillan, with a coffee morning and donation. 6) Environment – Again our Lioness Ladies Branch Club have been involved with litter collection during the year. 7) Promoting Community Participation in healthy recreation: We organised Pancake Day races for the local Primary and Junior Schools in our town

Achievements and performance
a) Over 2500 pairs of spectacles collected from local surgeries, opticians and local Tesco forwarded to Birmingham Lions for sorting and transmission to a French company where they are graded and forwarded to Third World Countries.
b) Approximately £1400 raised by raffling off Easter Eggs in local pubs and clubs – 25 eggs in all were raffled.
c) Our Lioness Lions Branch club raised £400 from a pudding quiz - a quiz where in the interval puddings are served the theme of the quiz questions were are in respect of “Baby Boomers” for Baby Basics as seen below, as well as collect many new and preloved items which were suitable for this local charity to make up new baby starter pack for needy mum in the area.
d) We held our annual Xmas Collections at our local Tesco and Waitrose raising £1300 for Lions Charities, part of this went to funding the annual pensioners Christmas lunch - where over 100 individuals were fed a full Christmas dinner with singing in the afternoon – held with the support of our local high school The Nicholas Hammond Academy.

Achievements and performance
e) Part of this was used to support the local youth theatre with a £250 donation as well as another £250 donation for a new Defibrillator within a redundant telephone box in the town.
f) We held a Diabetes Awareness Day in November at our local Tesco combining this with collection for Children In Need
g) As well as providing transport for the Mid Norfolk Foodbank (as mentioned earlier in the report) we also helped with collections for them at Tesco. We also assisted Tesco with their own Foodbank collections held nationally in all stores in November/December
h) We supported the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal with donations as well as manning their stall at Tesco for 2 days during the appeal.
i) We received the sum of £450 from the Wayland Show Committee for manning the pay booths at its yearly show and for providing Guardian Angel wrist bands for young children.
