Aims and Purposes

_1._ To further or benefit the residents of Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding areas (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”), without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time _occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents._

2. To advance the Christian faith in the area of benefit through the holding of prayer meetings, lectures, outreach and pastoral care.

## **Achievements**

During the financial year, we have taken hot food onto the streets twice a week to assist those who are homeless and or living in temporary accommodation due to the consequences of the pandemic, feeding up to 30 people per time.

We have also continued to deliver food parcels four days a week to families who are in food poverty/

We took and funded several families to events held by local groups, so that they could enjoy quality family time together.

We held a carol service in a local retirement home, and have held regular services on a Tuesday.

We have continued the movement to unite the local churches and have again hosted an event in the park for all to attend. Which has resulted in ministers visiting other churches to speak.

We have continued to hold a church service in a local community centre, followed by a hot fellowship meal.

We also meet on Tuesdays in the local Wetherspoons to hold bible study.

Due to financial hardships in the community, we have also supplied new clothes to families for their children and also for those designated as homeless.

Our regular volunteers have also trained to carry and use NYXOID, which treats persons who have overdosed on opioids such as heroin. They have also undertaken first aid training and the use of defibrillators.

## **Volunteers**

We would like to thank our volunteers who work so hard to make our church stand out as the church for the broken, and those who faithfully cook for us.
