The Objects of the Charity are the promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit in Staffordshire, by a) the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation, b) advancing education and raising awareness in equality and diversity and the needs of LGBT+ people and the issues affecting their lives and their communities, c) promoting activities to foster understanding between people from diverse backgrounds, and d) cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity.

The Charity’s mission statement is to empower LGBT+ individuals to be active and full members of the communities in which they live. To allow them the opportunity to live authentically and with dignity, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The Charity offers a wide range of services and resources to achieve this goal, including support groups, educational workshops, and advocacy and outreach programs. Also to work with local organisations and government agencies to promote policies and practices that support the LGBT+ community.

Much of the Charity’s activity in the year has been to continue to provide these services and resources, with regular meetings on site and remotely, providing topics for conversations, ideas and help for those who wish to participate.

The financial position of the Charity is satisfactory, and also continues to be supported by the National Lottery ‘Awards for All’ programme. Signed

Throughout the year, the Charity has dedicated much of its efforts in supporting the LGBTQ+ community, helping individuals connect with and engage more fully with the wider community around them. This work is essential in fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment for those we serve. Thanks also to the ongoing support from Team Support Staffordshire, SAGE has been able to offer these vital services, holding regular in-person and remote meetings that provide a space for conversation, support, friendship, and kindness. These gatherings also promote education around gender, sexuality, and tolerance, ensuring that everyone feels welcomed, valued, and safe.

The financial position of the Charity is satisfactory and continues to be supported by the National Lottery ‘Awards for All’ programme.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF SAGE (STAFFORDSHIRE)

Charity Commission Registration Number 1193918

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of SAGE (Staffordshire) for the year ended 31[st] July 2024.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charity Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. The accounting records were not kept in respect of section 130 of the Act, or

  2. The accounts do not accord with those records, or

  3. The accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view’ which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
