## **ANNUAL REPORT TO JUNE 2025**

## **What we do – to create a better Christchurch, New Zealand**

Established in 2019 and registered as a UK charity in 2021 (HMRC Gift Aid reference ZD12793) we are a UK charity that exists to help create a thriving and resilient community for the Christchurch City and the Selwyn and Waimakariri Districts of New Zealand.

It is our aim to secure funds in the United Kingdom and then distribute them to changemakers, social enterprises, and community leadership organisations working to deliver measurable social and financial returns — whether through projects or ongoing relationships.

Our lead sister organisation is a New Zealand registered charity, The Christchurch Foundation, and we work closely with them. Through formal agreements, they provide us with administration and distribution support at nil cost and grant funding to meet small administrative expenses. They also act on our behalf in Aotearoa New Zealand. Both we and our New Zealand sister foundation are registered charities, and each complies with the respective charity regulations in our respective jurisdictions.

This partnership enables those who love the city to invest philanthropically in projects based on credible research, strong governance, and established networks on the ground.

We focus geographically on the districts of the Christchurch City Council, Waimakariri District Council and Selwyn District Council in Canterbury, New Zealand. However, we welcome support for causes slightly further afield where that aligns with donors’ wishes.

## **What we achieved in 2025**

After several years focused on compliance and maintaining readiness through the pandemic and then subsequent economic downturns that followed, this financial year saw the charity return to modest activity.

During the year ended 30 June 2025, the charity received £31,359 in donations and £7,198 in other income. Expenditure for essential administrative and professional services totaled £149, whilst the majority of funds was redistributed to our New Zealand sister Foundation totaling £31,155, leaving a surplus of £7,253.

The charity had no paid employees and continues to rely on volunteer trustees.

Funds continue to be held and distributed in accordance with our charitable purpose, supporting social, environmental, and community initiatives in Christchurch.
