## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES**
## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31[ST] MARCH 2025**
The Trustees have pleasure in submitting the Report and Accounts for the period ended 31st March 2025.
## **Structure, Governance and Management**
As set out in the constitution, new trustees are inducted at a trustee meeting following their receipt of the constitution and the latest Annual Trustee Report. A period of training from trustees ensures new trustees are familiar with other policies and operational procedures.
There were no changes to the Trustee Board during the period.
## **Aim and purposes**
1. The advancement of the Christian faith through a variety of creative expressions such as teaching, writing and performing. This will inform people of the reasons for faith in God, and its impact on an individual and society as a whole if lived out honestly and with integrity. This will be expressed in Wales, other parts of the UK and other parts of the world as the trustees see fit.
2. The advancement of education and of the arts through performances, training and the organisation and administration of community choirs and community arts projects. These are intended to build confidence in individuals to improve their wellbeing, and that of those to whom they perform. This will be expressed in Wales, other parts of the UK and other parts of the world as the trustees see fit.
## **Objectives and Activities**
To continue to establish administrative processes, bank account and policies for SoW as a charity; To carry out events and ministry as requested; To build up fresh financial & prayer supporters; To develop songwriting amongst the SoW collective and establish partnership with a publisher.
## **Achievements and Performance**
The work of SoW has continued throughout this year and many members of the SoW family have been involved in many excellent and exciting events.
## **Key Events and Activities**
The following summary is intended to be an overview of the activities of Sound of Wales for the above period. We remain hugely grateful to all the volunteers who help to make this ministry so far reaching and effective.

April 2024
As part of our community work we were able to tour many schools across South Wales with The Easter Project where many children had the opportunity to hear the message of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
## May 2024
Urban Wordsmiths forms an important part of the Sound of Wales contribution to sharing the gospel among the arts community and various events and mentoring for Welsh poets were held during May.
## June 2024
Love a granny and gramps project is focused on bringing joy and the gospel message to residents in OAP care homes across South Wales. SoW was able to visit a number of these with the Sunshine Surprise ministry.
## July 2024
The Sound of Wales Community Choirs are a wonderful expression of SoW’s reach into communities through music and song. We currently have four choirs meeting weekly and each of them held concerts to end their summer term.
We were also able to spend time planning and marketing for our first children’s chpoir which we hope to establish in Porthcawl.
August 2024
SoW Worship and Spoken Word took part in multiple events at Big Church Festival on a number of stages where we were able to lead worship, play new songs and connect with many other creative ministries from across the UK.
## September 2024
At the start of the new school term SoW was able to provide Warm Welsh Welcome Workshops for various colleges and schools in line with the Welsh Baccalaureate and faith projects in higher Education and Sixth Forms.
October 2024
October saw SoW continuing its songwriting gatherings and also saw the recording of the album ONE which has been a great blessing to the gathered church across Wales and beyond.
## November 2024
We were able to provide a number of session at Lee Abbey Retreat Centre where some of our contribution included songwriting, written word projects and exploring deeper creativity.

December 2024
December is always a very busy month for SoW with many opportunities to share the Christmas message through music, song and spoken word. This year saw the SoW Acapella Christmas Tour visit many and various venues including Workingmen’s Halls, theatres, churches, schools and prisons.
January 2025
At the start of 2025, SoW was able to visit Westminster Theological Training College to lead worship for the student body.
February 2025
Filming and producing videos for the forthcoming album release took place in February alongside playing a leading role in two conferences. We were invited to lead worship at the Cant i Gymru conference for all of Wales and also the Kyria Women’s conference.
March 2025
We were able to continue our Warm Welsh Welcome Tour in various colleges and held an event called In Her Shoes – a community project on self-esteem and values through creativity.
We also taught worship and intercessory worship training modules in a number of colleges and youth groups.
We are so grateful to God for every opportunity to make him known across our nation and to share the wonderful Good News of the gospel in so many and various situations.
## **Leadership**
SoW continues to be led by Cath and Dai Woolridge. Cath holds the position of Founding CEO and Dai is Joint CEO. They are supported by a team of 5 trustees:
Rob Jones (Chair), Fawn Parish, Sian Wyn Rees, Tim Watson and Phil Joiner.
Trustees meet at least 3 times a year and there are various meetings involving different combinations of trustees with Cath and Dai throughout the year.
## **Reserves Policy**
SoW continues to hold a healthy reserve of £8,000 with the aim of having enough reserves to be able to cover 4 months expenses. Our aim is to grow our income to be able to employ Cath full time and Dai for a day.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT**

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the period ended 31[st] March 2025, which are set out on pages 9 to 12.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner's report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect:
- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act or
- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records
I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **6. Staff and Trustees**
The charity has one part-time employed member of staff. Its activities are generally carried out by volunteers. No staff received salaries at a rate of more than £60,000 per annum.
No remuneration or trustee expenses were paid to any other trustee during the year, nor to any person connected to them.
