STRUCTURE GOVERNANCE & MANAGEMENT
Hart Lions Club was chartered by Lions Clubs International in 1993 and has been actively serving the local community since that date. Hart Lions Club also operated a separate Registered Charitable Trust No. 1035726.
In March 2021 Hart Lions Club registered with Charity Commission (Reg. No. 1193888) as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. A formal agreement was made by the Trustees for assets and liabilities of Hart Lions Club and Hart Lions Club Charitable Trust to be transferred in total to Hart Lions Club (CIO).
Trustees:
Appointments effective 1[st] July each year are agreed by Members of Hart Lions Club (CIO) at the Annual General Meeting. Elected Officers, President, Secretary and Treasurer shall also serve as Trustees for the year. Up to 9 additional Trustees may be appointed at the Annual General Meeting.
Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity enabling them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the requirements of Charity Law and regulations and the provisions of the Governing Document.
Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the trust and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The Trustees are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the Charity.

TRUSTEE ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDING June 2024
The charity meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS102.
Beneficiaries are members of the public both within England and Wales and Internationally through Lions Clubs International Foundation and other recognised partner charities.
The Grant Making Policy adopted by the Trustees outlines procedures for awarding grants and other charitable expenditure.
Annual subscriptions paid by each member of Hart Lions Club are used for administration running costs of the Charity.
No Trustee received any remuneration, payments or benefits from the Charity, apart from reimbursement of recognised expenses incurred on behalf of the Charity.
Change of Bankers:
A new bank account was opened with NatWest Bank. All assets and liabilities were transferred from Barclays Bank Accounts to NatWest 28[th] May 2024
Risk Management:
Trustees will regularly review operational and financial risks faced by the Charity to ensure that manpower and funding levels are sustainable.
Reserves:
Trustees have agreed to maintain an annual unrestricted reserve of £3,000 to provide sufficient resources for the continuance of the charity in the event of adverse conditions.
Taxation:
The charity is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales and is currently exempt from taxation on income and gains where they are applied for Charitable Purposes.
The charity is not currently registered with HMRC to receive Gift Aid.

Main Activities
Fundraising is not itself a charitable object, it is how the charity raises the funds necessary to make grants; encouraging people generally to volunteer their time to staff events; to gain project management experience; provide social activities for people who might otherwise be at risk of social isolation; providing grants to help fund voluntary projects such as local Scouts and Guides to take part in local community and international exchange opportunities.
