Objects of the charity

Review of th8 charlty's maln actlvities and achievements
Church Membership over the perN)d remained at 27.
Tnjstees of the church were Pastor Chris Thomas (Eklerl. and Miss Gill Rees, Mrs Elizabeth Ogundele and
Mrs Amanda Wallace luntil 3 Mayl {Deaconsl. Trustee training has included a special session on
Safeguarding, and a number of the Chanty Commission .5 Minute Guides,.
The period started shortty after the lifting of all COWD restr￿"OnS for churches, and confidence and
attendance in all ￿tIVitieS re￿Med encouragingly quKkty. Church life and ministy continued throughout the
, and was marked by conshknbty increased attendan￿ at worship and in Children's, groups from
Decemtrkr onwards, which was most encouraging. We are so gralefijl for the Lord for hearing our prayers.
WO￿ ministry continued in Revelat￿n and then Joshua, bul also observing the Christian
calendar and noting other signfficant national and other events. We have reintroduced periodic
church lunches which have benefitted the ccffimunty lrfe of the Church.
As we have conb.nued to seek to be a 'ChU￿h for the Community.. the"Eastney Roundabout
Coffee Por has continued, and LEfvRen D￿lber and Easter was extended to provide "Wam
S￿". wlh a simple lunch.
The lrfe and oUt￿a¢h of the church has contFnued in Teenscene. WoTnen's Fellowship, D
Groups Messy Church. Home Visrting. Prayer Pulse. Spat*s and Fusion as before. giving a rounded
and full church prLY3ram. It has been gratfying to see some transfer into regular worship, and 2
applications for church membership are in the pipeline.
.The influx of Sunday attendees Èwsted average congregat￿n$ frcffi about 45 to 65, and children'$
groups have particuiarty grry4Vn.
As the last pericxj closed, Tnjstees had recc•Jnised that must attention to the future of the church,
and a 'Hope and Future. group comprising the Pastor. 2 Deacons and 2 Members met, and then reported tr)
Members, Meetings in July, October and January. The group's consthtions were sorneNthat overtakgn by
the growth in attendan￿, but the opportunty for candid discussion and prayer that these meetings and
reports gave was far from wasted.
The church accounts have shown an end of year deficrt ofjusl over £6,500. H¢>wever, this was ￿$$ than the
expected deficit of just over £10,000, whKh can partly be attributed to Gtft Aid being cfaimed, which had not
been anticipated in the yeaty buth3et The increased cost of INtng had an aokne effecl on the church's
expendtture, which is mainly refiected in the great increase in the cost of our electrioty. The end of year
balance was iusl under £65,460. This is a signrfKant d￿ease frcffi the last financial period. but still above
the reserve pxjlicy of £46.500. Susan LKence has been Church Bookkeeper.

Our links and felkywship with MFssion Partners across the UK and the world have continued. The local and
national ministry and leadership provKled by the FellNship ol Indewdent Evangelical Churches IFIEC), to
which the church remains in committed Membersh￿). has been most helpfvl. We have been able to lend
preaching support and prayerful felkmship to the eldership of our sister church in Aversloke. The Pastor
also attends the One Wy felkxK%hip of Portsmouih churches. He remains a member of Portsmouth
SACRE.
In early March. we led 'EquipK*d to Engage., a training day facilitated by London City Mission with the active
involvement of 3 other local churche5. and attendanee frorn 3 others try).
The church has known the Lord's help and blessing in a remarkab￿ vrdy over the past 12 nwjnths. but the
spiritLSal and social needs of local people. as well as gk)bally. have pressed in on u5. Several Restricted
Funds have been active to meet those needs. I￿￿dIng a n￿'sUPport Fund. which enables the ehLtreh to
meet individual needs and hardships at the discretk)n of the Trustees.
In planning the a¢tNities the Trustees have applied the guidance on public beneffl issued by the Charity
Commtssion.
Reserves policy
The Reserve level was we￿*d and increased by 10%. Trustees determined that the charty should aim to
hold unrestricted cash of no less than £46,500 (which equates to about 6 months, of unrestricted
eX￿nd￿ufe> so that the charity could conb'nue to operate should income and l or expendtture vary
adversely. Al the year end, the charity hekj unrestricted cash of just under £65.200 and the eharity 1$
complying its reseryes rK*y.
Governance
Responsibility for setting policy and for making operats.ng decisions rests the tTustees who meet
regulaty to rnonitor the adivities of the charity. New trustees are and aPF￿nted by a majority vote
of the Church Members. Meeting.
Responsibilities of trustees
Charity law requires us as Trustees to prepare finanaal Stalen￿nts for each accounting year which record
the receipts and payments of the charty for the year. We are responsible for keeping proper accounting
records disclose with Teasonable accuracy at any time the financtal posit￿ of the charity and enable
us lo ensure that the finan￿al statements compty wilh the Charities Act 2011.
We also have a responsibility lo safeguard the assets of the charity and to take reasonab￿ steps to prevent
fraud or any other irreguL8nties.
