Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document	Para 1.17	Niko Nawe was set up to prevent and relieve poverty among less privileged children, who are under the age of 18, living in East African countries (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi), by providing them with school fees, scholasGc materials, clothing and all the necessary support that is needed to prevent or relieve poverty, which they could not otherwise aford due to desGtuGon.

Para 1.17 and 1.19	The charity provides scholasGc materials to less privileged children and young people in East Africa. It also, intends to support other iniGaGve such as farming carried out parGcularly to beMer the lives of our benefciaries. The charity also, intends to build fully facilitated primary schools in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi.
Statement confrming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public beneft	Para 1.18	At Niko Nawe we make sure that every acGvity benefts our benefciaries. Thus, our consGtuGon guides us as such. (1) The income and property of NINA must be applied solely towards the promoGon of the objects. (a) NINA trustees are enGtled to be reimbursed from the property of NINA or may pay out of such property

			reasonable expenses properly incurred by them when acGng on behalf of NINA. (b) NINA trustees may beneft from trustee indemnity insurance cover purchased at NINA’s expense in accordance with, and subject to the condiGons in, secGon 189 of the ChariGes Act 2011. (2) None of the income or property of NINA may be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividend, bonus or otherwise by way of proft to any member of NINA. (3) However, nothing in this clause shall prevent a NINA trustee or connected person receiving any beneft or payment which is authorised by Clause 6.

Policy on grant making	Para 1.38	At Niko Nawe we ensure that there is proper governance of the charity’s grant-making in three ways. (a) Through grant-making principles which ensure that, even where there is donor or funding partner involvement, decisions are ulGmately made collecGvely - by all NINA’s trustees. These principles, together with the Gi\ Acceptance Policy and Philanthropy Service Agreements, clarify that funds given are NINA’s asset, albeit with degrees of restricGon on their use, and that, where they are involved, donors can only recommend grants, and not awarding them. (b) Through published grant-making

criteria which set out the acGviGes the trustees
wish to support in furtherance of NINA’s
charitable objecGves. The criteria also include
acGviGes which the trustees do not wish to
support because they do not consider them to
be in line with NINA’s purpose. The trustees
accept that they will occasionally make grants
outside published criteria, however, in all such
cases, the acGvity supported will be charitable
in the
eyes of the law.
(c) Through grant-making processes which set
out how decisions are reached for awarding
grants from diferent types of funds at NINA.
Grant-making principles
The principles which underpin the trustees’
governance of the NINA’s grant-making, take
into account the scale and range of its grants
and strike a balance between proper oversight
of decision-making and responsive customer
service for both applicants and donors. The
principles are as follows;
(a) The Board of trustees has ulGmate collecGve
responsibility for all grant- making decisions
in line with NINA’s charitable purposes and any
restricGons agreed with donors and funding
partners. (b) Trustees may delegate certain
decision-making responsibiliGes to its
subcommiMees,
Board members or staf within its scheme of
delegaGon. Such delegated decisions are
subject
to scruGny and review from Gme to Gme by
NINA trustees.
(c) NINA trustees reserve the right to apply
condiGons to any grant.
(d) Trustees also reserve the right to
approve any recommendaGon or nominaGon if
they
(or those acGng with their delegated authority)
determine that the resulGng grant would not be
charitable or would confict with

OBJECTIVES AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF NIKO NAWE:

Niko Nawe charity was created to prevent and relieve poverty among less privileged children, who are under the age of 18, living in East African countries (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi), by providing them with school fees, scholasGc materials, clothing and all the necessary support that is needed to prevent or relieve poverty, which they could not otherwise afford due to desGtuGon. As such, Niko Nawe has managed to run two projects in the past (one in Uganda and another one in Burundi) but not this financial year.

CHARITY ACTIVITIES:

or carried out any charitable acGviGes as we have done in the past. The reason being, we wanted to reenergise our spirits and develop new and more effecGve strategies to rise funds and achieve more of our targeted charitable goals.

GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT:

OUR MEETINGS:

We conGnue hold our regular board meeGngs throughout the year. During these meeGngs, we discuss the previous, current, and future developments of the charity and a vote is always cast at the end of our discussions to decide on the direcGon we choose to take. Our previous meeGng in the financial year 05/04/2025 – 03/03/2026 involved reviewing our fundraising methods, highlighGng our prioriGes in terms of which beneficiary needs our help fast.

NEW TRUSTEES:

We intend to appoint more trustees on board according to the needs of the charity. Whenever we a new trustee is appointed, we will make sure that they all undergo an orientaGon to enlighten them on their legal obligaGons under the charity law - operaGng under the guidelines of the charity consGtuGon, the decision-making process, the recent financial performance of the charity, the recent projects, and the future developments/goals. These new members will be encouraged to aMend external training events relevant to develop their skills and gain experience relevant to their roles and responsibiliGes.
