## **Structure, Governance and Management**

The Mabon Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with a foundation model constitution with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

New Trustees can be appointed by the current trustees in accordance with the governing document.

## **Objectives and activities**

To further such charitable purposes for the public benefit within the Rhondda as are exclusively charitable according to the laws of England and Wales and which the trustees in their absolute discretion determine, through the making of grants and donations.

## **Background**

The Trusts activities began prior to charitable registration in 2021, previously administering and awarding grants as the Rhondda Calendar Society. Each year, the Rhondda Calendar Society Produces a calendar made up of photographs taken across the Rhondda. The income generated through the sales of the calendar is distributed in the form of a micro-grant to local groups and charities. The Trust has continued to be developed and delivered in accordance with the objects and purposes outlined above.

The below report represents the first annual report delivered by the charity

This represents a significant increase in previous years awards and forecasted to be awarded in future years. This was due to no grant awards being made in 2020 or 2021 because of

COVID-19 and low level of funding remaining following a ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign to support residents in the aftermath of Storm Dennis.

## **Next Steps**

The finances of the Mabon Trust and therefore the amount of grants that we can award each year is solely reliant on Rhondda Calendar sales. In the next financial year, we will explore other opportunities to generate funds to enable us increase the number and value of grants awarded.
