**Annual Report of Trustees:** Stoke St Michael Woodland. **Report period:** 02/07/2023 to 1/7/2024. **Aims and Objectives of Charity:** The charity is responsible for the direct management of the area known as the Millennium Wood in Stoke St Michael. It aims to manage the woodland, safely as a site that enables wide access for the community, enabling health and wellbeing, and enhanced education opportunities for the local school and other community interest groups. ## **Review of Activities:** As well as monthly maintenance of footpaths during the growing season we were able to conduct several volunteer tasks within the woodland with our team of local and keen volunteers. This included in October 2023 a morning spent cutting back scrub and bramble and long vegetation to enhance access. On another volunteer day in December 2023 we removed arisings created through habitat management work. This was followed by a third day in February 2024 where we cleared wood arsings from hedgerow work and also repaired the steps entering the woodland.. We also began the process of installing a base for a bench, for visitors and community members so they can sit in the woodland and enjoy the views. We have done habitat management work within the woodland. This has included hedge laying and cutting and removal of long grass and bramble to provide a community space. We will maintain this area as an area of short grassland for the future. This will give us a space for village events and activities. ## **Health & Safety:** We continue to monitor the woodland monthly to ensure that all access routes and site furniture (e.g., gates) are safe and secure. There have been no issues identified this year. ## **Footpath Maintenance:** Throughout 2023 and 2024 the woodland group has continued to maintain footpaths through voluntary cutting. This was by a trained operator. We hope to continue this work using trained volunteers and working in partnership with the Parish Council footpaths officer. ||**Charity Name**
