The objectives of the CIO are:

The first day covered the basics of spindle
work and tool sharpening and the second
day covered face plate turning. These were
very well received by the members who
attended.
Following on from the full day training
sessions a number of Thursday evening
training sessions were also organised, open
to any member. These were in addition to
the CIO’s monthly hands-on sessions.
The CIO also had its usual stall at the
Honley Show where members demonstrated
woodturning for the public and raised funds

Four of the members successfully completed
the Association of Woodturners of Great
Britain Tutor Assessment and are now
approved tutors. The CIO now has five
AWGB Approved Tutors.| In March 2023 one of the Trustees, Colin Watson, was accepted onto the Register of Professional Turners. the normal course of events, risk

risks facing the charity the CIO rents it’s premises by hourly rate,
and should the Community Centre fail, new
premises would obviously become a
necessity. The CIO are conscious of this and
as the CIO continues to prosper, the
capacity of the current premises may
become an issue.
