## **Governing Document**
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, governed by a Constitution, and is registered with the Charity Commission under charity number 1193834.
## **Organisational Structure**
The trustees are responsible for the general control and management of the charity. The trustees give their time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits to fulfil this role. The charity are responsible for all decisions taken in relation to the overall control and management of the charity.
## **Recruitment, Appointment and Training of Trustees**
The current trustees are responsible for the appointment of new trustees. New trustees are brought into the organisation, when required, on the basis of eligibility, competence, specialist knowledge and skills. It is the policy of Al-Husna Academy that each trustee during induction is given a copy of the trust deed, the latest audited accounts, recent meeting minutes and guidance regarding the policies and procedures adopted by our charity.
## **Risk Management**
Risks are assessed, identified, managed and constantly reviewed. A set of policies and procedures are developed to manage risks, which form the internal controls framework. The policies are set and authorised by trustees.
## **Objectives and Activities**
To advance the religion of Islam, by providing facilities for worship and by providing Islamic education in accordance to the charity doctrine.
To relieve financial hardship amongst poor people and others in need by making grants and providing other necessities for the said persons
## **Summary of main activities**
The charity has worked towards achieving the said objectives by continuing to provide the following services:
Publishing and distribution of Islamic literature: Al-Husna Academy once again published beneficial and relevant leaflets on a quarterly basis. The trustees then endeavoured to distribute these leaflets to the public by distributing after the Friday prayer and also to some supplementary schools. Some of the topics that were covered by the leaflets are valuing parents and a brief guide to tazkiyah (purification of the heart).
Distribution of literature packs: The charity has a system whereby members of the public can subscribe to receive Al-Husna Academy’s short advices and reminders. Upon subscription, subscribers are gifted a free literature pack.
Counselling: The charity can be contacted by people who seek help and advice on difficulties they are experiencing in life. The contact number for the charity is available on the literature and reminders that it publishes.
Beneficial anecdotes and reminders: The charity has continued to share on social media beneficial reminders on a bi weekly basis. These reminders are sent out to the general public as well as specifically being sent to subscribers.
Bi weekly gathering: Every second week the trustees and selected individuals get together at one of the trustees houses to participate in a spiritual gathering.
## **Statement**
The trustees have had regard of and comply with the guidance issued by the charity commission on public benefit.
## **Contribution of volunteers**
Trustees gave their time on a voluntary basis. One other volunteer also helped with the publishing of leaflets and bi weekly anecdotes.
## **Achievements**
It is the aim of the charity to fulfil its objectives by carrying out the activities mentioned above. Over the last financial year, the charity has achieved the following: Once again, the charity succeeded in publishing 4 leaflets. Roughly 2500 to 3000 copies of each leaflet was distributed at different mosques in and around Birmingham. The trustees would interact in a friendly manner whilst distributing and also offer informal advice when called upon.
The charity continued to circulate beneficial anecdotes every 2 weeks on social media.
The bi weekly spiritual gathering also continued with selected individuals participating. As this is conducted at the home of one of the trustees, it was not open to the public.
One new development for the charity is the acquisition of a minibus. During the financial period the trustees have made an effort to get the necessary training to be able to drive the minibus and also for the minibus to be in a safe and suitable condition. In the next financial period, trustees hope to use the minibus to provide a transport service to take interested individuals to beneficial talks and events.
Finally, to further the activities of the charity, trustees continue to search for a building. The charity identified a few buildings during the last year which were suitable for its purposes, and also attempted to purchase them. None of the offers for purchase reached completion.
## **Financial Review**
Al-Husna Academy’s source of funding income is through regular donations from the public. Donations were received throughout the year in person and through standing orders.

## **1.1 Basis of accounting**
These accounts have been prepared on the basis of historic cost (except that investments are shown at market value) in accordance with:
